"I'm starting to think you may not be paired with Daichi for Mixed. I heard from Kuroo he's with someone else."

The text rang through your head, the words struck into a cord within your system. Did it feel right? It felt like a secret interrogation.

It wasn't a lie to him, it couldn't be. Omission seemed to be pushing the line that separated the boundaries on what could be considered a lie and simply a hidden detailed.

He didn't need to know...now he did.

Damn Tetsuro and his wiskful ways...

Kuroo and Daichi had their connections since the training camp back over summer break. They seemed to have bonded over all things that made them both captains. Likeable ones at best.

They also bonded over what connected them both to each other; you. More simply, how you and Bokuto were connected through strings to both Kuroo and Daichi.

It didn't need to be drawn out on a map, or really shown, it just made sense.

Kuroo would often relay information to Daichi about the events in Tokyo, and vise versa. What both siblings didn't share, the captains would in secret while keeping what of them together.

It felt like a job, but one worthy of having when it came to protecting them. From what they knew.

And what they had yet to know.

It would be interesting to see what connection would be left or kept once they left for college.

The setters had your back, no doubt. The didn't need the rooster or the owl to make sure of that.

It became apparent over the summer.

That would never be forgotten. The summer in which made all things come to fruition. When being a manager didn't separate you anymore from the court than you had already felt.

It felt like home again.

You looked back to the text, keeping the thoughts in mind. Once finished, you dove back into nostalgia, looking to what really made the summer unforgettable...

"CMON! You can't tell me you don't see it being a possibility too?" Koutarou shouts, knocking me on my side and pushing my arm. I can't help but laugh at his expression and just how ridiculous he sounds.

Whatever comes out of his mouth can never be trusted as valid, or mature.

Training had just ended for the day. The camp was a blast so far. It had been a while since Tokyo had seen me.

Or really since I had seen the pleasant nature of how the light created its own stream of life down the hills.

That's what Miyagi lacked, light pollution.

That polluted the valley with life and vivid memories.

"Maybe like back in first year, but we know too much to be in that kind of relationship now!" I chime in, rolling on my side and bouldering him over with my weight.
