Time seemed to flash by. The speed at which things went, rapidly ablaze. There wasn't a moment to pause; things kept moving faster than anything else.
It went for the week. How school seemed to be only a moment in time. Rewind was never an option, fast forward constantly pressed over the hours. The play button frozen stuck, leaving no room to break.
The constant practices in motion, moving nothing but people and time. People being morally exhausted, drained and downright tired. The time slowly leaving the grasp of those in need, seeming so far and unattainable. How it felt arduous, searching for time to use.
Practices started becoming less frequent, being the only way anyone came together. Daichi and Michimiya became more of a consistent matter, being side by side in the halls and in every conversation they spoke.
How they both made time for themselves, being at each other's side in existence, yet have no thought to the few practices left before the prefectural tournament, that is if qualified.
Their social presence always made some headline. Out come the Mixed Doubles Couple. Here comes the tough captains. Watch both volleyball stars make way.
If only that was originally you and him. Not romantically, you still didn't believe they were involved that way.
You had more faith in his morals to know he would never try to jeopardize a friendship over staggered feelings.
He would do it for you, why not her.
Time doesn't fly by. The concept is rather outlandish and inconsiderate to those who actually have manifested some sort of physical defiance of air travel. Like airplanes, flying by with time on their side.
So it did; flash by per se. The next game on the roster had been over with, being another successful win.
It felt like a more deserving win. Plays worked in your favour. Calls were made, and heard.
You could remember the one moment that it all seemed to click into place. How all the long hours of practice, being constant endurance, conditioning and even basic skill enhancement, made the game make more sense. Plays started to work, gaining points and advantages.
It even made you smile in joy, seeing the ball slammed on the other side. No reception after another. Every point felt earned.
Suga was inherently glad the new play worked. OP 2, the new and improved back set, had you setting out from the opposing side, having him come full front for a cross quick. Coach had pulled it straight from the play book from nationals, when the famous Coach Ukai had taken the boys team to Tokyo some years ago.
He changed the number however, fitting the number of Suga. He'd be the one to mainly attack this play. Many others had been saved for you.
They just hadn't had a chance to be used yet.
The game had ended, 2 straight sets to Karasuno. Coach had never been prouder. A unit so connected, so poise and rather invested didn't have the name Karasuno laid on the backs of those players. It felt like a unique team had played, put their soul and passion on thee court, and left it for everyone to see.
And take away only the fact that yes, it had existed.
Someone out there, two someone's, felt that way about such a thing.
You had been off to the side off the court, removing your pinnie that had been overtop a white cotton shirt, and placed it in your bag. Official jerseys weren't allowed till official matches. That being the tournament for any.
The pinnie had felt rather used, tattered and old. It had seen better days, after being worn in an all out war on the court. Sliding and jumping and running, it had been through many events. Many physical endeavours, you may say.
