Once upon a time long ago
There was a poor man,
Who was standing at a sweet shop
But buying them wasn't his plan.

Or actually, he was too poor
To afford to buy it at all,
But smelling them was enough
For tempting him across the wall.

But his dream was interrupted
When a man came outside,
He had an authoritative voice
"What are you doing?" He said with pride.

"Don't be bothered I'm a poor man
I won't take anything from you."
"But you'll have to pay me for
Even smelling my sweets too."

He was stunned by the man
But then used his presence of mind,
And shook his little pocket
Where only coins you could find.

The shopkeeper looked astonished
"What are you doing again?"
I smelled your sweets so here is

The sound of my coins that I've gained.

The sweet seller got it that the poor man
Was not just poor but cunning as well,
He went inside without wasting time
While the poor man kept on the coin bell.
