chapter nineteen

My dad has met with Maya's dad and they discussed. My dad agreed and I was over happy.

We have started writing our waec exams and it was hell.

We are having exams by 10 and I'm already in school by 8. Maya didn't come till nine o'clock.

"Hey girl, come see this"Maya said to me as she stepped into the library. I stood up and followed her to class.

Nobody was in the class cos we were all in the library studying quietly.

" seeeee" Maya shouted as she bought out a small booklet.

"What's this?" I asked not collecting it

"Its your international passport and visa girl" she said with a huge grin

"Oh my God! Oh I'm so happy, thank God" I shouted snatching the passport and hugging it.

"Stop shouting you two and go study" Mr Dennis said from the window and I put the passport and visa in my pocket.

We hurried to the library and an hour later,the exam started.

"No remain just the TOEFL, it is English test whatever and SAT test. After that,you go to the school website and register or fill your admission form. See, simple" Maya took her time explaining to me about all the necessary things to do for the admission to to the university

"Oh ok I understand. When are the tests?" I asked again

"When its time I will let you know" she said entering her car and drove off while I wait for my mum to appear.

"Yeah I know right. Thank God the exams are over. Remain those exams for the admission... The graduation is said to be in three weeks time....yes....are you serious?... I can't wait...seriously?..... Oh my God.... Ok bye" I was speaking to uncle Haroon as Maya stepped in.

Uncle Haroon said he would be here in two weeks time and few of my family members are coming.

"Hey" Maya said sitting down in my bed

"Huh hi. I didn't know you are coming" I said sitting close to her and she stood up.

She walked to my wardrobe and open it.

What is she looking for?

"Maya what are you looking for" I asked her

"My dad just informed me that we are going to a place for the exam or whatever. I don't understand what he even said but he said we are going very early in the morning so he said I should tell you" she answered not looking at me

"But you know you can tell me through the phone right" I remarked

"Yeah I know but I am asked to bring you along, what I mean is that, you are going to spend a night in our house so that we should get their as early as possible. And now,I'm looking through your wardrobe to find a good cloth that you will wear to that place. I hope you are getting me?" She said as she bought out a gown for me and shoving it in the bag that I didn't see her come in with it

"Go get ready. We are going now and grab anything necessary. Shoo" she said pushing me inside the bathroom.

I grabbed anything I know I will need and went straight to my mum's room with Maya following me

They exchanged greetings with my mum and she went straight to the point. My mum shoots me a glare and smile at Maya saying that no problem

I gave Maya a look and she understood what I meant. She went out of the room and my mum started

"Khair, I told you to always tell me this kind of important things but you feel you are big and I don't need to know ko?" My mum scolded lowly

"No its not like that. It is now she is telling me too wallahi. I'm very sorry" I said sincerely looking down.

"Ok I have heard you. Oya stand up and get going" my mum smiled hugging me

"Toh mum,till tomorrow"

"Ok, May Allah make you pass everything" she prayed and I replied with Ameen as I left the room.

"Let's go" I said to Maya who has went upstairs and took everything downstairs for me

She held my toiletries saying I should take the clothes myself. I did and off we go.
