[ jake's pov ]

when i look at heesoo's face i see nothing but pure shock and a hint of happiness from her face. her warm tears slowly ran down her face while she still tried to register what she just heard earlier.

i held her hand and gave her a small smile,
"you must be shocked because this is so-"

i got cut off when she pulled me into a hug and burst into more tears on my chest, wetting my shirt,

"w-why didn't you tell m-me earlier..." she whispered and exhaled.

i wrapped my arms around her waist and closed my eyes, preventing me to cry more.

"i'm sorry, sweetheart" i pecked her forehead and hugged her.

"i missed you..." she whispered then cried even harder.

"i missed you so much more, princess"

we continue to stay in that position until her sniffles slowly went quiet. i look down at her and saw her eyes closed.

i chuckled, thinking it's funny how a person can sleep while standing...

i quickly carried her and walk to her room. i slowly placed her on the bed and caress her face.

she must have been suffered a lot in the past.

i remember heeseung hyung once told me how she's still searching for her childhood friend. she wants to know the reason why her friend left without telling her.

she told him how she felt so betrayed knowing the pics they had show how close they are.

so...

what was the real reason i leave south korea and went to australia?

she should know the real reason why but...

not now.

this is not the right time to tell her about the past. it will ruin our friendship for sure...

i sit at the corner of her bed and held her hand. i don't wanna leave her.

never again.

[ heesoo's pov ]

the next day, i woke up feeling a pair of arms wrapped around my waist. i look to my right and saw jake sleeping while snoring.

i chuckled and stared at his sleeping face.

i still couldn't believe that he's here with me... all this time...

i caressed his cheeks and giggle, "jake" i called him softly as he squinted his eyes then pulled me closer.

"i want to know everything..." i told him making him open his eyes and look at me.

"...my doctor once told me i can maybe regain back my memory if a person tells me everything... in detail" i explained as he slowly nodded his head.

"heeseung tried many times but it failed since he kinda lost some of his childhood memory to..."

"was the car accident... bad? how did you guys get into an accident?" he asked curiously. i went silent for a moment before starting talking back,

"i don't remember how we got into an accident but for sure i know it's bad because my uncle died. he couldn't survive since he lose too much blood..."

"me and heeseung are lucky enough to survive. he got a broken leg and lost some of his memory. while i lost almost 80% of my memories and had some soft tissue injuries and also some brain-damaged. i don't remember what it is but it affects my mentality. my mentality isn't stable since then. and, i have a weak heart after the accident. maybe if i got scared too much i'll get a heart attack."

"...the doctor told my mom to keep an eye on me in case i'll do anything stupid because i tend to lose my control before. i almost got into a second accident before."

"have you been to... therapy?" he asked as i nod in response.

"yeah, my dad sent me to some places. but it didn't change me at all. but when i started school again, i noticed that i love studying. at some point, studying makes me calm. that's when i knew that i don't need any therapy i just need... books?"

jake laughed then ruffled my hair, "is that why you're so smart?" he pecked my forehead then giggled.

"how about heeseung hyung?" he asked.

"well, he's still the same. he didn't have any brain damage during the accident but for some reason, he's getting slower in doing some things.."

"...except for his games," i rolled my eyes then laughed.

"but i want to thank him for always saving my life before. i used to be suicidal before for literally no reason" i chuckled then shake my head.

"i'm glad i already know myself." i said and sighed.

"what about you though" i look at him as he raised an eyebrow.

"why did you go to australia?" i asked.

"i'll tell you some other time." he nervously chuckled then kissed me to change the topic.

is he hiding something?

"you're not hiding something from me, right?" i asked making him shook his head,

"cupcake, of course" he nodded then smile innocently.

"do you have any plans?" i asked as i stand up, doing some stretches.

"wanna go picnic with others?" he asked making me look at him confusingly,

"others?" he nodded then walk towards me and carried me,

"they're coming here today!" he exclaimed then laughed.

"is my brother coming too?" he nodded once again and hugs me.

"yuna told me she's been missing you so jay suggested if they can... you know crash our place"

i gasp then nodded excitedly, "i'm more than happy" i hugged him then left the room.

you don't know how happy i am knowing that my childhood best friend is here with me all these time...

but on the other side, i do feel relief when i told him about my story. it feels empty now. like there's nothing for me to worry about.

because i know he'll always be with me.

forever.
