"Hands off him." She declared, still holding the royal blade. No one moved. The air became thick and heavy, Gawain and Percy knew something terrifying was going to happened and so it was.

Gwen grabbed one of her blades from her garter and threw it into the face of one of soldier holding Arthur. She didn't blink just stared at them, and then she murmured "Forty-nine." And lunched toward them, she swung her sword once, twice. She was like swollen river, like a wolf protecting her mate. She was merciless and took every head, every arm without caring or thinking twice.

"Ten." She whispered jumping on the back of one of them, piercing him with the blade and taking it out soon after. "Nine." But by then Arthur was alone in the middle of the room.

Offered to her as she was a Goddess and they were trying to calm her anger by giving her what she asked. It was too late. Every single one of them fell. There was so much blood, the whole pavement was covered in puddles of dark red and as stained of red ran down her furious expression, she didn't seem defenseless anymore. She wasn't scared. She was death itself and the Knights of Camelot made a mental note to never made her angry again.

When the last one fell, Gwen turned to her brother who had his knuckles whitened from holding on to his seat. "Get off my throne." She commanded and her brother slowly stood raising his hands to signal he wouldn't dare to touch her. They wondered why she didn't take him off right away.

Gawain could understand why and he felt sorry for Gwen. After all the bloodbath she did, after all the unspeakable things he did to her, Goregin was still her brother and she wasn't heartless like the rest of her family. Blame it on Camelot, if you will, however she was willing to let him go if he didn't put up a fight.

What Gwen didn't know was, that her brother had calculated everything. He had sent his man to be slaughtered to spare his life because he knew hoe strong Gwen was and in a one vs one combat, he never would have won. But he was aware she came for one thing and was motivated to get it. The law was clear: to defeat a king in Leodegrance all you need to do was sit on the throne with witnesses that were from another kingdom therefore had no personal interest in dethroning another reagent.

And wherefore when Gwen headed to the throne to claim it, he went to the only thing in the entire room she valued more.

"You know sister," he said holding Arthur's head in his arms, ready to snap it. Gwen growled. "We can do this the easy way. Or the hard way."

"I'm gonna peel you off inch by inch, Goregin" She spit but her brother threw his head back and laughed.

"I will offer you a solution."

"There's nothing you can give me, that isn't already mine."

"You mean you'll take the throne but scarify your king? Arthur Pendragon. I've heard stories about Camelot, never actually been there myself. They say it's a lovely country, I could be a good exchange. I give you this excuse of a kingdom and I take Camelot for myself so we are both content." Gwen never even thought about that. It was unthinkable for her to give the peaceful Camelot to such a manipulative and rotten heart as her brother. Most of all, she probably wouldn't admit to herself that the things that hurt her more was pay for such a stupid thing as a kingdom she didn't even feel at home in, the first man ever to be gentle to her, caressed her and loved her for all her scars.

"You will not get a bloody thing for yourself."

"I could though. Let's make a pact. I'll give you the kingdom, the land, the throne. Even the crown and your stupid king." Said moving Arthur's still body. "But you have to bring me the one thing worth more all the above."

"Which is it?" she inquired, trying to think of a way she could take her lover out of the hands of her brother without signing his demise.

"I want the Grail." It was impossible that thing was just a legend, everybody knew.

"If you find it and bring it to me, I'll let you have the kingdom." Gawain noticed that he didn't mention Arthur. He probably knew that the second he left him, he'll be defenseless against his sister so he needed to hold on to him for as long as possible.

"I have a counter offer." She retorted moving closer. "Arthur comes with me now and I promise that I will refuse every rightful claim on this throne you so much desire."

"I'm not an idiot, I'm not giving him to you."

"Shame because I'm not going without him." They stare into each other's eyes and something flashed into them before nodding.

"Agreed, but you must get out of the castle and I'll hand him to you into the woods of Castin."

"I'm not leaving without him." She repeated like he was retarded.

"It's your only option." He smirked, victorious.

"Tie me up and I'll leave on my feet. But give them their King." She pointed to the two Knights and they moved closer. "I'll be waiting for them outside the city wall. If you so much as touch him, your blood will rain from the ceiling of this damn room." And she meant it.

Gawain used a rope to block her hands behind her back and she walked, without looking back, out of the castle. She felt heavy, her side begun to hurt again and she was still losing blood. She couldn't stop though. She had to hold on until he'll be safe.

How stupid of him. Why did he follow them? What was he thinking?

All those questions floating in her mind as she found a little spot to rest leaning into a tree. A King, with so much to lose, no heir to the throne put his whole kingdom at risk, for her.

Gwen wasn't sure she felt something for Arthur, but the fear that possessed her heart when they attacked him. The thought of losing him even. It was unbearable. It made her turned into a terrible monster who killed so many men. She felt their smell on her, their blood. She was starting to pant so she forced to stay focus to push away the images of what she did.

What was the feeling that was eating her alive? Why?

Why did he come? She wondered again and again, aimlessly.

Maybe he thought she needed help. No, it wasn't possible. Arthur knew she could take care of herself, he probably showed up just to see her after following Gawain and Percy and then got caught up in the action.

Nevertheless he came... for her.

They couldn't get married but still he was ready to die for her. And what importance did it have if they weren't legalized from others to love each other when in fact they cared deeply for one another.

She didn't know if Arthur risked it because of his loyalty or because of his love.

She was starting to feel cold and shivered, hiding her face in her furred hood.

Somebody cared deeply for her to fight her own battle. With her, side by side.

She heard the sound of peddles being moved and from the wall of trees Gawain and Percy appeared, Arthur in between them. She tried to stand but she felt an excruciating pain to her side and was forced to stay put. They brought him to her. As soon as he was close and he sensed her scent, he opened his eyes, those beautiful crystal-clear eyes and smiled.

"Gwynnever, are you okay?" she nodded avoiding to look at her side but he saw it. He placed his fingers around the blade and the little strength he was left with, he pulled, taking the knife out. Then pressed his good hand on the wound and asked for bandages.
