Two hours in, many soldiers were injured and badly hurt. But the city held and no one died yet. Gwen's advice had somehow saved them however they were running out of luck.
"Is it possible that the more we kill the more there are?" Asked Gawain. It looked like that to Arthur too but there was no way to know. The only thing they could do was keep fighting.
Then they saw it. A Chimaera doubled the size of the rest, landed on the tower where the Queen was hiding and growled causing them to fall to ground.
Gwen opened her eyes jumping seated. Something made her skin goosebumps, chilling her from head to toe. She took a look at the city and was on her feet before she could think.
"Easy, princess." Said Merlin seeing how her head couldn't stay still.
"What is going on?" Merlin held is rod to his chest and looked sideways.
"Could definitely be worse." And Gwen looked up and spotted the huge Chimaera on the tower. Something tickled at the back of her head, an information but her mind was betraying her. She just felt the need to move toward it.
"You are not moving Gwen. You are injured.""Then give me something to go by. Because I'm going to help them drugged or not. And I'll stand more chances if I don't stumble like a drunk man." Merlin pulled a vial from his sleeve and rolled his eyes at her.
"I knew you'd say that." Gwen popped the vial all the way and throw the empty container to Merlin. She felt definitely better, to be honest she stopped feeling completely. The drink numbed her and it was fine like this.
Arthur noticed the silence that had fallen on Camelot and couldn't understand the reason why. People were peeking through the windows, eyeing the situation. He needed to move, because if that Queen died under his protection, a war would come and definitely wasn't the right moment to pick enemies.
The Chimaera was clawing its way into the tower, trying to pierce the wall. The screams of the Queen could be heard in every corner of the Kingdom.
It was when he moved his eyes to the smaller towers in seek of a possible solution that he saw her. Even this far he could see she wasn't recovered. Her white face stood out in the darkness all around her.
Arthur lifted a hand to shut at his soldiers. She was quick and silent, like a shadow as she hopped on the other tower and moved to the window where the Queen was hiding. The Chimeras slashed but didn't get her. She tapped on the glass and as the animal gave a blow, Gwen broke it with the sword handle. She was gesturing for her to come out but evidently, Elain was panicking so she opted for plan b. Gwen was with one leg inside the tower when he saw hands coming out of the window and push the small body of Gwen to the ground, after disappearing again. Arthur was petrified. He had to do something.
Gwen rolled off the tower in a dangerous way but managed to stop by one of the pinnacles. She cleaned her pants as if she didn't almost fell down a very high building and grabbed a brick that fell from the tower being torn to pieces. With all her strength, threw it to the animal, hitting it on the snout. The howl that followed blow Gwen off the roof and almost made her precipitate. With an elegant acropachy she regained her balance.
"Hey" shouted Arthur sword in hand and found one of the little Chimaera that he easily killed it with one blow. The bigger one sharpened its glare and showed him its very intimidating set of teeth. "Look at me, hideous. Look how much fun I am having." And another one of the chimaeras dropped dead.
The monster left the tower and pounced on him, making the ground shake like an earthquake.
"Sire." Demanded sir Leon. "The plan?"
