The tackle was brutal because of the size of the enemy's army. It was so big; Gwen's brother didn't even bother to ambush them or prepare catapults. He was sure to win, that was clear. Arthur didn't spot him already, but there were many soldiers, his and not, all very close as they battled to prevail.
He had counted them before on the hill, they were twenty thousand men to his ten. The only way they would win was to be better soldiers than the opponent and that was not even a possibility, told Gwen. They had to be smart and trick them. She instructed them how to win them from the inside and that would be to use as many enemies as human shields.
The opponent, as Gwen previously said, didn't make differences, so they attacked anything that moved, cutting off all they could get their blades on. It was a disgusting show to see them fight so heartlessly.
However, that was their advantage, according to Gwen. They had no brain opposite to Camelot's and this would gain them a little room to fight back. Just enough time so that Gwen would sneak inside the castle and look for Mary.
Arthur was extracting his sword from the chest of a man he just killed when he felt something on his side and then a burning feeling as a blade cut through his coat of mail, scratching.
He raised his eyes to find very familiar eyes staring at him. The only difference this time was that he was not wearing red anymore. He was covered in blue, a perfect commandant of the opponent army. He had to admitted, Lancelot looked better in that color.
The color of treason.
After all, he never was a man of Camelot. No one would have betrayed their homeland for greediness. He belonged in that land of perdition and cold-blooded murdering. He fit perfectly.
"Your majesty." Mocked the former Knight
"Traitor." He responded wickedly smiling as he pointed Excalibur to his new target.
"I thought you would be safe and sound in the castle."
"And lose the opportunity to see you fall in the battle field or even killing you myself? Oh never." Lancelot stroke and Arthur managed to jump on the side as another solider load him but he luckily avoided him too.
He attacked Arthur again and the King twirled using some moves Gwen taught him.
"You let her teach you?" he again teased him evilly whist trying desperately to harm him. Arthur was not better than Lancelot, he always lost when he had to face him beside that time in the jousting but he suspected was because he had something Lancelot could never have: Gwen's favor.
It gave him unimaginable strength; force he didn't know he had in him.
"I'll be a stupid not to." He retorted swinging the sword from down to Lancelot leg and cut him.
"Well, as I recall she wasn't quite skilled but again, she was so young when I had her." Arthur tensed and paused, looking as if Lancelot just said the worst thing in the world to him. He took advantage and managed to knock him off and use his sword to pierce his heart. Arthur luckily rolled to the side and use Excalibur the parry the second blow that would otherwise hit his neck.
This was not looking good.
Meanwhile Gwen at infiltrated the palace and was looking for Mary everywhere. The castle seemed abandoned and that was odd. She thought some of her brother's soldiers would be here. She didn't count enough units in the army outside the city walls.
She checked the cells, most of the rooms and even her brother's. Nowhere to be seen. She hoped Mary was okay, she desperately needed to find her. The only other place left to check was the throne room.
