Chapter 9

Barry's POV

I left her on the porch and watched her go inside her building. When I made sure she was okay, I checked if anyone was watching and run. I went home and Iris and I would watch a movie. The pop-corn was ready and I went to put them in the bowl and then the doorbell rang. Iris went to answer it. When she opened the door, I heard her yelling.

I: Barry, run!

I went to her and saw Vanessa falling down. I caught her before she hit the ground.

Me: What happened?

I: I don't know. I opened the door; she said your name and fainted.

I took her to S.T.A.R. Labs. I put Vanessa on the stretcher and as I was getting ready to go get Caitlin, she walked in the lab.

C: What happened to Vanessa?

Me: I don't know. She came to my place like this. Do something.

As Caitlin was helping Vanessa, I asked her

Me: Aren't you drunk?

C: No. I have a cure for hangovers. I came here to take it. That's why you found me here.

After a little while, Caitlin was done.

C: I'm done. She's lost a lot of blood. She needs to rest. It's better if you take her home tomorrow and keep an eye on her.

Me: Thank you very much. Yes, I will take good care of her.

I sat on the chair next to her and sometime later, I fell asleep.

I opened my eyes suddenly and looked around. I realized I was in S.T.A.R. Labs. I saw Barry, sleeping on the chair next to me. I moved a little, making some noise, and it resulted in waking him up.

Me: I'm sorry; I didn't mean to wake you.

B: It's okay. How are you?

Me: I'm good.

B: What happened last night?

Me: The past came knocking on my door.

B: Do you want to talk to me about your past?

Me: Luke is the only one who knows.

B: Don't you trust me?

Me: It's not that... it's just that, if you learn, you'll want to leave.

Then I tried to stand up and he stopped me.

B: What are you doing? You have to rest. Caitlin said you lost a lot of blood.

Me: You have to rest as well.

B: I don't want to leave you alone.

Me: You can send Iris in your place.

B: Okay, I'll go bring her.

That moment, I was about to stop him, but an answer came in his cellphone.

B: She'll come on her own. I'll wait with you until then.

Me: No, you don't have to. I'll be okay.

B: Okay, I'll see you tomorrow morning.

He left and, after waiting a couple of minutes to make sure he wasn't coming back, I got up from the bed, put more gauge around my wound, put on a beige blouse so that the gauge couldn't be seen and put on my suit.

I went looking for Chad. I knew he'd be at his safe house. I arrived at the location and put the password on the lock. Classic old Chad; he didn't even change it since I left. I went inside and saw a few familiar faces. I changed my voice and said

Me: Where is your boss?

They didn't reply and pointed their guns at me. At that moment, I tried something new. I didn't have many options either. I put my hands parallel to my chest, and started emitting sound waves; I held them in front of my hands, creating a shield.

They started shooting, but the bullets stopped when they came in contact with my shield. I managed to do what I wanted. When they stopped shooting, I turned slightly to the side to boost my attack and pushed sound waves towards them; at the same time hitting them with a sonic cry. I send them flying to the wall. They all fell on the ground unconscious.

I went upstairs and tried to locate Chad by following his voice. When I found him, I got in the room and he was with two big guards.

Me: It's time for you to go to jail.

He started laughing menacingly. He nodded at his guards and they stood next to me.

Chad: You're going to achieve that alone?

One of the guards punched me and got my wound. It hurt, but I didn't show it. Then they grabbed me and he said

Chad: I could use someone with your abilities. Let's see who's hiding behind that mask.

Me: I'd rather die than work for you.

Chad: As you wish.

He pointed his gun at my head. I closed my eyes and heard the shot.

Barry's POV

I left S.T.A.R. Labs and went home. I showered and was about to lie down, when my phone started ringing; it was Iris. I picked up the call and before I got a word out

I: Vanessa is missing. I looked over the entire building and she's nowhere to be found.

Me: Stay there, I'm coming.

I hang up, got dressed and rushed to S.T.A.R. Labs again. I noticed that her suit is missing, so I guess she's going to find who did this to her. I called Cisco.

Me: You have to come to S.T.A.R. Labs right now.

Two minutes later, a portal opened and Cisco walked in.

Me: What took you so long?

Ci: I had to get dressed you know. What happened?

Me: Someone stabbed Vanessa and she went after them. I can feel she's in danger.

Cisco monitored the sound wave activity around town, looking for Vanessa. I was roaming through the city looking for her. As I was searching, I heard Cisco.

Ci: We got her location; she's in the address I just sent you. Hurry, I have a bad vibe.

When I arrived at the location, I saw the door wide open and walked in. I saw several people unconscious and weapons right next to them; there were a lot of bullets and bullet casings scattered across the floor. I noticed some stairs and headed up. As I was running, I saw a man shooting Vanessa; I caught the bullet, grabbed the criminals and put them in jail. Then Vanessa opened her eyes and looked at me.
