We get to the 'Sparkling Fountain' and Esha parks. I get out of the truck and walk around to her side. Opening the door I stretch out my hand to her but she just sits there staring ahead as she bites down on her lower lip. "Are you okay?"
Slowly she looks over to me with worry flashing through her face, "Are you sure this is a good idea?" Her voice is soft and tinged with fear.
"Yes, my parents love you and they miss you." I look into her eyes and that's when I notice they are gold with red flecks now, wow .... um okay, she is slowly turning into a full fledge master hemophage. "I promise it will be okay."
"I haven't been out of the castle for three years." She whispers more to herself than to me. She turns the truck off and steps out placing her keys between her breasts. "Very well but I cannot promise I will be the best guest, at the time being."
I look at her, my brows furrowed, "What do you mean?"
"Well I have been 'deceased' for three years now and there will most definitely be a lot of staring and questions from people that are not your parents." She looks at me, her face devoid of emotion but in her eyes I can sarrow.
"You may be telling the truth but I don't care. I love you, my parents love you, and we will deal with whatever we need to to make you feel as comfortable as possible." Taking her hand I close her door and start leading her to the restaurant. I wish I could comfort her. It would be strange for her if I embraced her .... I wish she would let her feelings show more than she what she does. The only time she ever shows her emotions is in her eyes or when it just all gets too much.
Walking through the front doors we are greeted by a young woman about 17 or so, "Hello alpha, your parents are in the corner table do you want....." Her eyes land on Ivory and her jaw drops as her eyes widen, "But our luna is dead...."
"This is Esha..."
I feel her hand on my shoulder before her soft voice fills the shocked silence, "If they know me as Ivory then call me that."
Smiling at her I nod as I take her hand in mine, "Thank you, I know where it is." I look over to the young woman, flashing a smile, before walking away.
We walk farther into the restaurant and I see my parents sitting at the table that Ivory picked the night they finally met her. The chair in the corner where you can see the entire room and the one beside it are empty. I hug my mother from where she sits in the chair, "I'm sorry, Horatiu, I know you miss Ivory but this table has such a great memor...." She pauses when her eyes lock onto Ivory. She lets go of me and walks over to Ivory with tears in her eyes, "I...Ivory?"
Ivory smiles and nods before she is engulfed in an embrace from both my mother and father. Ivory stiffens slightly but hugs back looking confused. My father leaves the hug and I hear mother crying. She is holding Ivory like she is going to disappear at any given moment. "I can't believe you're alive! But...."
"Ma'am if I am correct you know my heritage. I am not able to die as a normal human, my hemophage genes won't allow it."
"Don't call me ma'am call me mom." Mother breaks away from the embrace wiping her tears away and smiling. "I should have known when your body disappeared."
"Mother she doesn't remember us...she remembers the year before she died and she remembers finding a mate and the pack but she doesn't remember us specifically."
Mother nods, "Take a seat.... we should have the waitress over here soon."
Mother and father sit back down and Ivory and I walk to the other side of the table. I go to pull out her chair, "It's fine." She states barely audible even with my wolf hearing. She pulls out her chair and takes a seat.
Mother and father just watch her with huge smiles, "This is a wonderful thing to celebrate." Mother looks at me, "You're lucky, you get another chance with your mate"
I smile and nod as I look to Ivory, "That is if it feels right with her."
"Why wouldn't it? Her mother choose you to be her other half." Confusion is edging her words as she looks between Ivory and I.
"She is with Raja's brother..."
"Oh..." Mother looks down then glances up at Ivory, "I forgot you lost a mate too."
Ivory nods then looks down at her hands, "I haven't entirely lost him."
"What do you mean by that?" I ask shocked I mean I know he will always be in her heart but she's not one to make a statement like that.
"Well.... I have been in contact with him recently."
"You have!" My eyes widen in surprise as I stare at her. What does this mean? Is he not dead? Does this mean she could have spoken to me?
"Of course she has... I've heard stories that when your mate dies if you live....your minds link and you can communicate through the thin fabric that separates life from death."
I look at mother in awe as slight anger begins to rise, "And just when exactly were you planning on telling me this?!"
"Well I figured if she hadn't contacted you that she wanted to give you time to grieve." My mother shakes her head as she looks down at her hands.
I look at my mother and then to Ivory with my eyes wide, "Why didn't you try the mindlink?"
"Seeing as how I didn't completely die the mindlink wasn't there."
"But I marked you, we had a mindlink that we could contact through if you choose to open it."
Sighing she looks up at me, "I am not marked..." She shows me where I marked her and sure enough there is nothing there. "We never mated and so when I 'died' any mark I had vanished. So there is no mind link between us." She motions between us with her hands as I look down sadly. Of course I find the most wonderful woman and after I mark her and she is mine I lose her and she's gone forever. I feel a light touch on my hands, the touch sending sparks through my body, I look up to see Ivory looking at me. She doesn't seem alarmed by the feeling produced from our touching, "I am sorry and I'm not completely sure how I'm supposed to feel about you but I do have strong feelings for you. I just...I have to decide which way they lean. I will give a chance and if they lean in your favor you'll be the first to know."
"Thank you." Smiling sadly I can't help but wonder what would happen if Abhiraj knew that there was a possibility that she could hate me and be with him forever.
Ivory didn't eat with us explaining that she could consume only a small amount of human food without it hurting her stomach. Shortly after my family and I finished our dinner we went for a walk around town. We talked and joked and caught up but soon Ivory excused herself saying she should go and feed and then get home before Abhiraj throws a fit. This night was amazing I just can't believe she's back.
