Several years have passed since we have begun our training and the first battle was won. "Everyone please settle down!"
I am sitting in front of the large congregation rubbing my temples as Christopher is trying to quiet the room. The room continues to buzz with conversation, "Sit down. Close your mouths. And listen to what you are being told."
Quickly everyone does exactly as I instructed in the exact sequence I said it in. "Thank you Ivory."
I whisper to myself, "I swear I'm running a daycare not a pack."
Raja laughs and whispers, "No I think you are kinder to children and don't scare them as much."
Christopher and I both shake our heads, "Please begin."
"Well... we have been lucky these last years. There was only one Master and only one Red Wolf in each battle. In these next battles there will be more of each. We need to train harder, even our women and children must learn to fight against these things...."
He turns to me as I cut off his words, "I agree but hopefully they will never touch you again."
"What do you mean?"
"I plan on building a sanctuary....this isn't going to end.... not anytime soon that is. This is the apocalypse...."
As I was about to continue, Christopher cuts me off, "What do you mean this is the apocalypse?!"
"I mean that the hemophages are going to take over, there is no denying it, we must build a place where the hemophages cannot touch you. I will gather others that do not wish to fight and after it is up I will gather priests to bless the grounds...."
Sarah tugs on my skirt, as she always does even though she is 15, "You won't be there will you?"
I shake my head, "No, I will remain in the castle, as all hemophages I am not able to walk on hallowed land."
"Then I'm staying with you."
"Sarah, you must think about your father. He needs you and he would like you to be safe, he will be in the sanctuary as well...."
"No, I won't. Ivory.... I know you're just trying to keep everyone safe but we are a family, I'm going to stay with you. If you are not going to be in that sanctuary then neither am I."
"Raja!" I look at him in disbelief, why would he say something like that? With a sigh I shake my head, now is not the time to talk about this. "We will speak about this later."
He gives a look that says there is no changing his mind, "Where are you planning on building this sanctuary?"
"It will be a little larger than the town, I am also having several throughout other kingdoms being constructed."
