"Luna!" A young lycan from the BloodMoon pack runs up to me.
I stand from the desk, "Yes?"
"We have seen heavily armed hemophage troops coming from the south." The boy takes a deep breath, "They hold the flag of the Rebelli Strigio above their ranks. I think they mean to start a battle here."
"Get all the women, children, sick, and elderly into the castle and down into the treasure rooms. I'll send Raja with them to show them through, he will protect them from there. Tell your men to take up arms and meet me just south of the city."
"Yes ma'am." He takes of running without hesitation.
Turning I rush into the castle and begin arming myself. "Ivory what's going on?"
"Raja, I have a young boy bringing the ones that cannot fight here. Take Sarah and lead them to the safe rooms in the treasury. I want you to stay there with them, if anyone bypasses the systems down there you will need to protect them, I will come for you once the battle is over."
"I'm not leaving your side! You are not going out there with men that you barely know and leaving me, the one person who knows how to fight with you, to take care of these people."
"You. Will. Do. As. I. Say." I fix him with a stern look, "I will not lose you and neither will your daughter. Not again." He nods and goes to get Sarah as I continue grabbing weapons. I run out to the south side of the city, passing the group that can't fight.
As I near the outskirts of the city I see a large gaggle of lycan, that I am to lead, and a very large army of hemophages swiftly gaining ground. They should prove to be very formidable foes. "Who here does not have weapons on them?" Several raise their hands, "Come here and tell me your weapon of choice."
I quickly dispense weapons as needed and the hemophage army stops about two-hundred yards away, sending a squire over with their demands. I walk out to meet the squire halfway, "Surrender now and be given mercy or fight and face certain death, those are our demands."
"I have a demand for your lord. We will fight, he can face me while his men fight my men, or he can walk across this field and beg for my mercy and he shall have it."
His face contorted in rage as he turns on his heel to send his lord my demands. Knowing that there will be a fight I walk back to the men.
"What were their demands?"
I look at Christopher Machintosh, "Either surrender or fight."
"What did you say?"
"The same, there will be a fight. Their ranks are full of lesser hemophages, the weapons will turn them to dust if you land a killing blow. Aim for the heart or the brain. If your weapons are knocked out of your hands, shift and either rip their head from their shoulders or rip the heart out and crush it between your teeth. If you are forced to shift, you will have to push the pain of their blood burning you away, try your best. They have one hybrid and one master, leave them to me if you can. Try to stay away from them. I want minimal casualties on our side so fight in pairs and keep an eye out, they are tricky. If your only choice is to wound the vamps do so, the wound will keep them from shifting."
