"I reckon you've brought lunch right?" I ask while opening the cafeteria door for her. She nods and smiles to show he appreciation for my action. "You're so chivalrous Joey." She says. I flash a look of confusion hoping she would explain this word I've never heard of. "It means polite, you're a gentleman." She says softly. I smile at how she can correct me without sounding rude. "Where are we sitting?" She asks. "Your choice." I reply. When she chooses a table close to the window I walk to it faster than her and pull her chair out. If she likes the whole chivalr...rist...wrist? Me being a gentleman , then I would be happy to comply. A grin is my thank you as she sits down. She shudders and it worries me. "What's wrong?" I ask, I start sweating. "The chair is cold." She says while re-adjusting herself. I then open my backpack and pull out my towel that I use in gym usually. "Here, sit on this." I say while handing it too her. She smiles and does as I say. "We have gym today, I almost forgot." I say while taking a large sip of my water. "I don't get it.Why didn't we have it yesterday." She says with her brows furrowed. "We have block schedules if you haven't noticed. Odds one day evens the other." I say. "In Florida we don't have those. I really thought I only had 4 classes." She frowns. I chuckle but her frown deepens. I know she doesn't like when I laugh at her. "Sorry." I say.
She glares at me for a couple seconds then she looks back down at her food. Today she was eating a chicken salad that had baked chicken, lettuce, and all the other crap in salad. She had just picked over it during lunch, only eating the lettuce that didn't have any salad dressing on it. "Why aren't you eating." I ask sincerely curious. "I'm not hungry, I ate earlier." She shrugs off my question. "What did you have 'earlier' then?" I question. "I had a...I had an orange." She says. She's such a bad liar. "You like oranges right." I ask. She shifts in her seat, I am making her nervous. Of course I am, she hates citrus. She told me yesterday at lunch. She then nods. I smile and pull an orange out of my brown paper bag I call a lunch box. Which compared to Kristen's designer lunch box, was trash.
At the sight of the orange she bites her lip. "Here, you can have it." I say while placing it in front of her. She closes her eyes and swallows, preparing her self. "You're right, I don't like oranges," she says. I smile, I won. But before I can celebrate she continues, "I love them." She finishes. She grips the Orange and peels it. Once she had a wedge she eyes it. Gosh she was stubborn. Bringing it to her lips she winces. I don't have the heart to do it, to make her do something she doesn't want to do. Knowing how stubborn she can be either I would give in or she would go against what she wanted. I couldn't let it happen. "Stop!" I say. Relief washes over her as she puts it down. "I was just about to eat." She jokes. I smile but then the same questions exits my mouth. "Why aren't you eating." I ask. I am worried now, why would she not eat? Her body was already slim enough. She wasn't bony, but she could still gain more weight, she looked fragile.
"Joey, I hate..no I loathe salad. I can't stand my food mixing. And salad is just so...it's exactly what I loathe." She says. The same relief washes over me. "What?" She asks. "I thought you were starving yourself." I say. She laughs. "Joey I love food. I couldn't imagine doing that." She says.
Throughout our lunch conversation I have to pee. Badly. "I'll be right back, I need to piss." I say. She blushes and twirls her hair. "I mean go number 1." She blushes even more. "Urinate?" I say trying to use an appropriate word. She bursts in laughter and I roll my eyes. "Just say you need to use the men's room." She sounds so intelligent. She was much more smarter than me. "Okay, I'll be back soon." I smile.

I devour the luke warm slice of pizza Joey bought for me and enjoy every greasy bite. I was correct, the cafeteria food was good. My joy is interrupted by a deep voice. "Hello, Kristen is that you?" The deep voice says. I turn around to see a familiar tall boy with exceptionally nice features. Blonde windswept hair and dazzling blue eyes. Not to mention his boyish rosy cheeks. "Yes, that's me." I say. "There's a 'welcome back' party to you know, celebrate the new school year, and you're invited." His voice is low and slick. "Can I bring a plus one?" I ask. I wasn't going to attend, but I want to keep the conversation going. I know this boy, but I just can't quite think of who he is. But my question was a stupid one, I doubt Joey would go out with me. "Actually I would like you to be my date." He says. I nearly spit out the last few pieces of pizza still in my mouth at the sound of his words. "I don't even know your name, I don't think that's a good idea." I respond. "I'm Alex, you know who I am, and I think it's a good idea. You're really pretty and that's all I need to know." He says. I blink at him blankly and twirl my hair. The name Alex sounds so familiar, but I just can't put 2 and 2 together. What ever I say he's gonna argue, so what do I do? "Uh excuse me, I'll be back in a second." I say. Why am I being polite to this mystery guy? I walk away towards the bathroom and hear him whistle. "Sway them hips baby." He says. Was he cat calling me?
