The girl had been here for a while now, I'd say maybe about five months since she arrived to the ward. Her complexion was pale, and her lips red with a soft, pink tint. Her hair was thin and blonde, knotted, but everyone remembers when it was soft and brushed.
She was sitting up in her bed, her hospital gown tied around her neck loosely and her back tight. Holding a mug of bland, hot tea, she just sat there sipping away. A smile hadn't crept upon her lips since she got here. None of them would blame her, the staff and patients, it's a very glum place, and in this part of the hospital,
Your future looks bleak here.

Screaming, she backed up in the corner as the nurses gathered around her. "LEAVE ME ALONE! LEAVE ME ALONE! GET YOUR HANDS OFF OF ME!" Her hands brushed off her arms and shoulders vigorously as she shook her head crying. "STOP IT." The nurses kept cooing; "Sweetie, it's okay, it's fine, calm down, you're okay!" About an hour later, she sat in the bathtub alone. The water murky, full of the dirt her body and pours have collected. Her arms were full of puffed out scars, the skin looking dark grey. Her lips were chapped, full of scabs and splits from her screaming and stretching her dry mouth wide. She slowly scrubbed her body with the scentless soap, just wanting to lay here forever and drown. She did not want to go back to her bed, and have more nightmares of her. Her face was all she could see, the bodies on the floor, her head twitching with that smile and the bloody knife in her hand. And she'd always say, "Goodbye, Melanie."
Letting the water drain and drying herself while sitting on the toilet, she hoarsely and quietly sang a children's hymn,
"I lived in heaven a long time ago, it is true;
Lived there and loved there with people I know. So did you.
Then Heav'nly Father presented a beautiful plan,
All about earth and eternal salvation for man.
Father said he needed someone who had enough love
To give his life so we all could return there above."
She stood up, walking out of the bathroom her feet padding against the floor, mumbling the verse over and over again. She dressed, and laid down in her bed, eating the soft food they gave her with a spoon, and slowly drifted off into a light slumber.
Screaming.
"SHE'S GOING TO GET ME SHE'S GOING TO GET ME SHE'S GOING TO GET ME-!" She thrashed around in her bed, the nurses trying to hold her down. They cooed; "Sweetie it's okay, everything's fine, calm down!"
She thrashed and thrashed until she screamed her name aloud.
"MELANIE!"
