Lost lake part I

It was night time.
Jade leaned up against the car, smoking a cigarette. It was cold, her hand held her left shoulder tightly. Honestly, Jade was just as scared as the others. She didn't like the idea of playing leader, I mean, Martha might, but she didn't. They still had about a thousand more miles to go to get to Lost Lake, they were stopped in a Kansas field. Long green grass surrounded the white car, and everyone was sleeping. Except for her and Caleb.
Caleb's head leaned against the steering wheel, his eyes closed tightly as his hands gripped his brown locks. He couldn't let the situation soak into his brain, it felt unreal. He felt like he was taken away, which in a way he was, from the real world. Jade told him that she would explain everything to everyone at the lake, but he wanted to know now.
He was out of patience.
He got out of the car, and abruptly loomed his body over Jade, looking at her straight in the face. His large hands were beside her head, flat against the car. She dropped her cigarette, her eyes wide as she looked up at the man.
"Tell me what's going on, now."

Timothy drove down a dirt road in Kentucky, the girls in the backseat asleep. It was about twelve A.M., so he decided to pull off in the woods somewhere. He locked the car doors, and slowly fell asleep.
Jackie screamed, pointing at the windshield, "DIABLO, IT'S FUCKING DIABLO." It was a black figure, it's eyes were a deep red, and it's kneecaps were backwards, as well as elbows, and on top of the hood,
Starring down at all of them.
Tim started the car, and put it in reverse, going at least eighty miles per hour. He swerved abruptly, and it fell off. He sped away.
It galloped after them.
On all fours, on its deformed legs,
It chased them.
"WHAT THE HELL IS THAT THING?!" Timothy yelled, looking in the rear mirror. Kaitlin looked through the car's pockets, finding a small pistol.
She opened the trunk.
"WHAT ARE YOU DOING?! YOU'RE GOING TO GET US ALL KILLED!" Jackie tried to close the door, but Kaitlin took a shot, scrapping the side of her wrist. Taking another, she hit the creature in the neck. It fell.
Kaitlin slammed the door and fell into her seat, her heart beating so damn fast.

Jade cleared her throat.
"I'll tell you when we get to the lake, that is final."
"No, goddammit, Jade if you don't tell me now I'm taking this damn car and turning around and taking us back to Wilmington."
"Fine, I suppose you'd like to go insane and eventually die?"
"What the hell are you talking about?"
"You know what happened to Ali, Karu, and Caleb Demmers, right..?" She put her hand on Caleb's arm and slowly moved it, she felt trapped and claustrophobic in this position.
"Yeah, they went to mental asylums, or something like that."
"That's the most I could hope for you guys if you turn this car around. You and Megan and everyone in that car could die, you saw those goddamn bodies... Hanging from trees, that could be you guys.
"Just please, please wait," Jade's forehead met the crook of his neck, silently crying.
Caleb's face was flushed, he froze. This obviously has gone from serious, to dead serious. He hugged the girl, enveloping her into his chest and consoling her as she continued on to cry.
