Gaby's POV

I slide off of the top bunk, the shirt im wearing is one of Caleb Olsen's, it fits like a dress on me. It smells like a old oak closet, not necessarily a good smell but it reminds me of a cabin in the mountains back in North Carolina Jade told me about, she remembers the smell clear as day. I shake Megan's shoulder slightly, but then I realized the moon is bright tonight, as well as the stars. I walk out of the cabin quietly, trying to ignore Jade's cries (that are now dying down), and I start to walk to the lake.
The stars shine down onto the lake, a reflection without ripples. Looked like a clean cut mirror, perfect. I put my small feet into the shallow edge of it, disturbing the stillness with subtle ripples that caused the stars to slightly move up temporarily. I sigh in relaxation, and slowly sit down on the ground that is literal rock, with a layer of dust coated on it. I dust my hands off softly and hold my knees, the water warm from the sun beating down on it all day. The desert is a weird place, I enjoy it, but Jade hates the desert. Wonder why she chose here? Maybe it was least suspicious to whatever it is, that I guess, chasing us. I purse my lips and see a familiar hand floating above the water, I cover my mouth and gag, seeing that it is Vinny's hand. I wish I never had that dumb fight with him, I was stupid, I should have listened to him... I don't like grudges and I guess I kept my stupid promise of keeping this one. I scoot back, taking my feet out of the water that holds their bodies, letting them dry against the cool ground. I lay on my back, looking up at the stars. Jade liked coldplay, she may still like them, but I can't stop thinking about this one line from one of their songs.
"Look at the stars,
Look at how they shine for you,
And everything they do for you,
Yeah, they were all yellow."
Huh, her least favorite color is the song's name.
I sit in silence with that verse stuck in my head, until I see something rising out of the water. It's a body, to be specific, Caleb Olsen's body. He's walking on the water, towards me, and so do the other bodies rise up, like they're getting out of their graves or something...
I scoot back the fastest I've ever scooted on my ass, crawling and clawing at the ground to get up. I try to hold a scream, but at this point, fuck it,
I scream as if I were getting murdered by my boyfriend.
Megan's door swings open with Martha behind her, Tim comes out flailing his arms at me, his cabin is the closet, so he's trying to tell me to get the hell in there. My eyes are welling up with tears as I look behind me, they are running towards me. My face is pale, and I trip over the steps and tumble and roll on the hardwood floor. I hear a slam and a click, the door is closed and locked. I am hyperventilating, my hand gripping my chest with tears streaming down my cheeks. I make choked sounds as I hear them beating against the door, their lifeless bodies.
