"Stop trying to be less of who you are. Let this time in your life cut you open and drain all of the things that are holding you back."
― Jennifer Elisabeth

I woke up to my phone ringing and a very angry Kat. I had completely forgotten about our brunch date we planned and she was not happy with me. I apologized over and over again. She finally dropped it since I promised I would meet her at the smoothie place before my game started. I jumped in the shower, quickly rinsed off, got dressed, and headed to the gym. She was there waiting on me with a very crossed look on her face. Luckily, there was no one else around, because I had a feeling this was going to get ugly.
"Why did you flake yesterday?
"Haven't we gone over this?"
"No I tried but you avoided the question."
"Maybe there was a reason to avoid the question."
"Well what would that reason be?"
"I don't want to talk about it."
"You need to talk about it."
"I don't want to talk about it."
"I know what this is about."
"If you know then why are you asking me about it?"
"Ally stop being a bitch and just be honest with me." She looked hurt. Why the hell should she be hurt? I didn't even do anything. I sighed heavily and starred down at my hands. Completely avoiding eye contact and her presence.
"Ok if I ask you specific questions, will you promise to answer me honestly?"
I thought about this and decided she would get it out eventually. So there was no reason I should make it any harder than it already was. I looked up and nodded yes.
"You started acting differently at the mall. Yes or no?"
"Yes."
"You genuinely had a fun time at the club. Yes or no?"
"Yes."
"Something happened between you and Vanessa. Yes or no?"
My heart dropped at the sound of her name. I gulped. "Yes."
"You two didn't hook up though. Yes or no?"
"No."
"Did you kiss each other. Yes or no?"
"Yes."
"I knew it was her. Both of you were so focused on each other the whole day."
"I still don't want to talk about it."
"You felt something when you kissed her. Yes or no?"
I sighed in defeat. "Yes."
"You can see yourself with her and that scares you shitless. Yes or no?"
Now this is starting to get really old. "Yes."
She is silent now. That may be even worse than her asking me questions. "So do you get it now? I know she isn't into me anyway. So why should I even try when I can already see it failing. I know she's back with her ex boyfriend, I saw them last night. I'd rather just keep living my life and trying to put myself back together. I don't want to get crushed again."
"I understand Ally. I'm sorry for pushing you."
"It's ok. I would appreciate it if we kept this conversation to ourselves."
"Of course."

Buzz buzz buzz. I look down at my phone and check the text message and smile.
Sarah: were you able to get any rest?
Me: yea I did I'm guessing you didn't and your still working?
Sarah: no sleep I'm used to it. oh yea just taking a little break now
Me: I'm honored to take some of your break time haha
Sarah: lol you should be
Sarah: would you want to get together sometime this week?
Me: yea that would be great. Let me know when.
"Who has you smiling Ally?"
"My new friend I met last night."
She quirked her brows "Explain?"
I chucked "I came here last night to blow off some steam. I met Sarah at the water cooler and we ended up at this mom and pop diner eating and talking all night long. It was really nice. I feel like I've known her all my life and I was so comfortable with her."
She smiled "That's awesome Ally! Do you think it could be like a romantic type thing?"
"Hmm I think it could be a best friend with possible benefit type thing? Maybe. There were no romantic feelings, but maybe some lustful feelings. She's definitely gorgeous and I'm definitely attracted to her. No chance in a relationship though. We are both on the same side of the fence on that topic." I shrug my shoulders.
"Well maybe you can at least have a little fun."
"We will see! Hey I have to go and get ready for the game. I'll talk to you later."

I changed quickly and headed to the basketball courts. Aaron was standing on the court stretching and smiled when I walked in.
"Good you did make it after all."
I rolled my eyes "Did I have a choice?"
"No, not really."
We stretched and started to do some warm up shots. I loved this feeling. The sound of tennis shoes squeaking on the court, the sound of the ball bouncing echoing all around, and the sound of the ball swishing through the net are my favorite things. My thoughts were interrupted when I heard "Go Ally! Wahoo! Kick some ass Ally!" All at once. I looked over and smiled at my crew sitting over on the bleachers. Shaking my head I made my way over towards them.
"What the hell are y'all doing here?" I asked in a playful manner.
"Well duh, we are going to watch you" Lisa said.
"No shit Sherlock. We wanted to see you play. Some of us haven't before." Monica added rolling her eyes.
"You skipped out on lunch anyway so we had to come bother you." Julie said.
Laura added "Yea loser what was up with that?"
I shrugged "I was out late last night. When I got home I just wanted to crash. I'm sorry I missed it." Erin, Kat, Vanessa, and the boy toy, came in and sat down in the middle of my speech.
