Hiccup's PoV
I looked at Rapunzel sleeping on the couch. She was wearing a giant oversized sweater and sweatpants. But she looked gorgeous. I knew I shouldn't be thinking this. She liked Jack, and of course she did. He was the popular one.
Already, only to 3ish months in of the school year; Jack was the most sought after guy. I've seen Rapunzel's face when letters are stuck through the mail slot on our dorm door.
She gets this adorable face, with narrowed eyes. Her perfect lips form a tight line, tugging down on one side.
Her eyebrows furrow and scrunch. Then, she realizes her expression, and changes it quickly. Her face flushes, and she looks down at her feet. Here on the couch, she is so peaceful. Her mouth is slightly open, and her eyes gently closed. Her cheeks are rosy, and her complexion is so perfect. Her eyebrows are loose, and "hiccup" she mumbled in her sleep.
I jumped, and winced, hoping I didn't wake her up. Then the word she whispered dawned on me. Then the meaning dawned on me. I stared at her, and her mouth moved, mouthing "hiccup, hiccup, where are you". I could almost hear the words, it was quieter than a whisper.
She stopped talking, and I flushed scarlet red. She was whispering about me! But why would she do that? It didn't make sense to me. Not even one tiny bit of sense.
I heard Toothless saunter over from his "nest" that was also called my pile of clothes in my room. I sighed, as he curled around the couch, taking a protective stance between me and the couch. Or perhaps the occupant.
I lay looking at the ceiling. I just couldn't believe she said my name in her sleep. I reconfigured the blankets and pillows on the floor to be more like a bed. I lay on them and sighed. I closed my eyes and tried to sleep.
----------------------------------------------
I sat up dazed, the previous weeks were hazy, but slowly term break came back to me. The smell of pancakes wafting through the air made my mouth water. I wondered what Rapunzel thought of me now, now that she knew the truth. It was hard to think about.
Thinking of Astrid, or my dad. Gobber, even Snotlout made me miss home. Sometimes I felt sappy, and this was one of those times.
I stood up warily, afraid to trip and break my neck. I may be in the 21 century now, but I still believed that the gods hated me.
I walked into the kitchen, and Rapunzel was flipping pancakes and hashing potatoes. I then remembered, Jack and Merida were getting back today. I was glad, I liked getting to know Rapunzel, but I still missed my other best friends.
A knock sounded on the door, "Can you get that Hiccup?" Rapunzel said focused on cooking. During the week, I had noticed her sleep talking and walking. Whenever she said my name in her conscious hours, I though back to the times she subconsciously said my name.
I walked to the door, wary of my left hook foot. I still hadn't gotten the hang of my foot. It had been awhile now. Sortof.
I opened the door, and Merida dashed in. Jack whizzed in just behind her, they must have been racing. They tossed their bags in their rooms, arguing as they did.
I went to wait in the kitchen.
Rapunzel flew out of the kitchen and embraced Merida. She gave Jack a hug too, and he accepted it better than the Scott. Of course, I was totally not jealous.
Not one bit.
I shook my head as Toothless jumped all over Jack. Merida punched my shoulder in a greeting and Jack grinned crookedly at me. I remembered what we did to his hoodies. I tried to hold in the laugh, as we all engaged in catching up the two long weeks.
I couldn't help noticing that Jack looked to Rapunzel a good deal.
However I couldn't dwell on it much because suddenly a yeti burst through the dorm door. He literally tossed the four of us into a sack, and I yelled, more than a little annoyed.
The four of us struggled angrily, but it didn't do much. I felt us move up and away in the sack. The yeti carrying up ran and jumped into a portal. Then a feeling sank into my stomach, it rose into my chest, and zipped into one section of my body and then another and another. I thought I heard Toothless jumping in after us as well.
I knew the feeling. It had come to me once before. We were traveling back in time.
