Ch: 1 The Plane

My heart thumped loudly. It was rhythmic, and I tried to distract myself with the beat. B-Beat B-Beat B-Beat, it was so loud, he must be hearing it. I blushed, of course he couldn't, that kind of thing only happens in books. I was just imagining it, still. I was nervous. He was right there, and I was right here. So close, yet so far away, un-reachable, un-touchable. I needed to clear my head, or say "'Hi'" or something! I pushed my hair behind my ear, even though I loved the style, for several reasons, my long long long blonde hair could sometimes be a nuisance.
"Hi" I said nervously "I'm Rapunzel" I fiddled with my fingers as I spoke, but maintained a cheery smile. This was something I had learned from my older cousin, when you put on a mask to those you were just meeting, it helped. By putting on a non-scared-out-of-my-mind-face, I was doing myself a favor. However, I also learned not to completely detach myself or to completely shield my emotions. Elsa had certainly set an example in that department.

"Hey, I'm uh, Jack" the white haired boy sitting next to me said, pulling me out of past memories. I was glad he responded, and I didn't need to fake a smile. "Hi!" I practically yelled at him "I mean, Hi" I said embarrassed. "Um so, what middle school did you come from?" I said pushing my hair away from my face again. He relaxed, "DreamWork Prep. Junior High. It was in my hometown, but me and my family just moved here. " Jack explains casually, running a hand through his hair. "Cool! I'm from Disney Junior High. Me and my family moved here from Germany right before I was born. But they sent me off to Guardians High. For specialized learning," I said easily, I wasn't going to give my entire history when I first met someone, but it just slipped out.

He smiled "Me too. I guess hiding among the normal kids wasn't going to be good further on," I sighed. I hated being reminded that I was 'special', I loved my powers, but I also wanted to fit in, he quickly added noticing my discomfort, "not that we aren't normal, just-" "special" I interjected. We both laughed, "So what's your talent?" He asked curiously, turning toward me in his seat. "I can heal people when I sing, my parents want me to harness the power to use in other ways. " I said smiling, I liked the change, being able to talk so openly was nice. "Frost and Ice powers, I heard there are a few other kids here that are similar. " he said shrugging non-chalantly.

"I wish there were other healing kids, but I heard that everyone gets grouped into houses, and in foursomes. " I say excited to see where we would end up. "Yeah, I'm interested who I'm going to be with" Jack said smiling, probably sharing my enthusiasm. All of the sudden, another student slipped into the plane compartment. "Is it okay if I come in here?" The girl asked, but then spotted me "Merida!" I said jumping up. "Punzie!" She shouted running over, the red head wasted no time and gave me a hug. "Ah thank the moon Aye thought Aye was going to be completely by myself, and Aye can't stand most of these rich snotty kids! She said talking fast, "who're yu?" She said looking suspiciously at Jack, who was sitting behind us. "Just one of those rich snotty kids" he called to her "don't mind me". She glared at him but thankfully didn't attack.

"Merida, this is my new friend Jack, Jack, meet Merida" I said moving out of the way for Merida to approach. She stuck out a hand and Jack shook it, and promptly froze her hand. "Oops, sorry, I didn't mean to do that" he said sarcastically. Merida growled "It's fine" she said melting the ice holding her fingers stuck together. "No harm no foul" she said sweetly, but narrowing her eyes menacingly. "Okaaaay" I said stepping between the two. "Merida, why don't you sit on this side of me" I gestured to the opposite side than Jack. She sat in the cozy recliner "So ice powers hmm?" She asked Jack "so, fire powers hmm?" He mimicked smirking. She rolled her eyes and sighed, giving up and putting her head in her hand.

A knock sounded outside the door again "hey um, is there by any chance a Jack Overland in here?" He said stepping through, Jack perked up, "Hey Hiccup!" I looked at the green eyed boy surprised at the unusual name, then I felt a little guilty "hey Jack" Hiccup said grinning. He stepped in and noticed me and Merida, he waved sheepishly "Um Hi" Hiccup blushed "is it okay if I sit in here" I nodded and gave Merida a pointed glare, She sighed and nodded as well. He relaxed, and Jack and Hiccup sat across from us, in the seats turned toward us. "Hey Hiccup I'm Rapunzel," I introduced myself "and this is Merida" I pointed to my grumpy Scottish friend. " 'ello" she said bored, pulling out her iPod. "Excuse the Scottish accent" I added.

Hiccup nodded "so where are you guys from?" I smiled, "I'm from Disney Junior High, and Merida was a Pixar transfer to Disney Junior High. " I explained, tucking my hair behind my ear. Hiccup smiled "Cool, I'm a transfer from Norway, although I grew up speaking English and Norse. " "He went to DreamWorks with me, and our parents sent us both here" Jack finished. "What are your powers?" I asked curious "I'm a healer. " I finished. He shrugged "I can train animals, fly, and control water. It's an odd array. I do have a pet dragon Toothless, and I usually use him to fly, but I can go solo" I nodded "that's pretty cool, Merida and I can fly as well" "me too" Jack added

"Attention students, please fasten your seatbelt a and the 9th grade plane is coming to a landing. I repeat, please fasten your seatbelt a we are about to land. " the intercom system repeated the message and switched off. I gasped and fastened my seatbelt, I nudged Merida and motioned 'seatbelts'. She nodded, and clicked her belt in place. The boys both fastened their seat belts, and we waited as the plane slightly tilted down. I put all my snacks and things back in my backpack. My actual bags had been delivered to my rooms, where I would stay with one other girl and two boys. We would form a foursome, and 6 foursomes would form a house. There were 3 houses to a grade, and the school was relatively small. That was part of the appeal for some people.

Me, I was just excited to go to a magic school were I could really fit in. And I figured, that things were going to be better for me, at least, I hoped so.
