*The Next Day, Ava's POV*
I pull up into the student parking lot at school and get my stuff out the car. I had decided last night that I was going to put Levi's bunny in a cute gift bag with tissue paper on top.
I decided to leave the present in the car as I close the door, and start walking towards the school entrance. I see Maggie and Max hanging out in front of the doors just talking.
"Hey guys!"
"Hey Ava! Did you bring Levi's gift?, Maggie asks in her usual cheery voice. I nod my head as I look towards Max. He looks more normal today.
"Good morning, Max."
"Good morning..." he says with somewhat of an attitude.
"Ummmmm... okay?"
"Hey! You take that attitude somewhere else mister! Sorry Ava, he's just upset that I can't come over to his house today." Maggie says.
"Sorry," he says to Maggie and I.
"It's alright little dude, let's just head inside before we're late," I say with a smile on my face.
Once we get into the school, the sprint bell rings, telling us that we have 2 minutes to get to 1st period. I hurry my way down the hall to my first class, and sit in my assigned seat. Levi is already sitting down taking out his binder and his pencil out of his book bag. Our teacher starts his lesson, and everyone gets to work. As the teacher walks around the class to see if anyone has questions, I look over at Levi to see that he's in his own world. He has one in one earphone, and is in a hunched over position. I try to see what he's looking at, but it was hard to see because of the way he was sitting. I notice the teacher looking over in our direction, and then he starts to head our way. I quickly look at my own desk, as if I hadn't just been seen looking at Levi's desk.
"Ava, what were you doing just a second ago?" Mr. Cooper asks.
"I wasn't doing anything, sir"
"Well I do believe I just saw you looking at another students work, is that right?"
"Yes, I was looking over, but I was not trying to look at his work, sir." I say, trying not to be disrespectful.
"Well then could you tell me what you could have been possibly looking at on Mr. Levi's desk?"
If he wasn't listening before, he definitely was now, since his name has been said. He looked at me with a slight blush.
"I'm sorry sir, but I was just making sure he was okay. You know, sometimes I like to look out for my classmates. So, I don't believe I have done anything wrong."
"Well alright then, if that's the case, you can get back to work. And next time, try not to look so suspicious.
Yeah, I'll definitely remember that for next time.
