{A/N: I was supposed to post this Friday, but I forgot to, therefore, I'm posting it now (Sunday, 12/5) just for the sake of posting this story. This is basically an AU backstory for Helen and Toby for the story just so the story kinda makes more sense.}

Helen Otis.
Helen's life is somewhat normal. His parents wanted a daughter, but instead they got a son. They named him 'Helen' and treated him like a girl. But soon, they started to treat him like a son, realizing that what they were doing was wrong. Ever since then, his life has been pretty much normal.
He lived a normal life: Going to school, making friends, and growing up.
One day in highschool, someone framed him for stealing. He was in class, minding his own business. One of his classmates, Judy, had lost her watch. Someone thought that Helen stole it, since he was being quiet. Helen claimed he never did it, but when they searched his bag, it was there. Since then, they've been bullying him and calling him a thief.
Of course, he never did it. He wouldn't do such a thing. He was obviously framed, but there was no evidence that he didn't do it. There wasn't clear evidence that he had done it either, but all his classmates thought that since it was in his bag, he had stolen it. It was a bold assumption.
Helen had always loved drawing since he was a kid. It became his favorite hobby. As time went on, his drawing skills improved.
Helen didn't really have someone to open up to. He doesn't like talking to his parents about school stuff, not that they cared. He used his drawing hobby as a way to cope with life. He drew out his feelings and put his emotions into his art. This would always make him smile, even when times are tough.
Until now, he's been alone. The closest person to a friend was Tom. He was often bullied before the watch incident. But after the watch incident, he was never bullied again, and he cut all contact with Helen.
But now..
Helen has someone.
A real person he could open up to.
A real friend.
A good friend.
He had him..
Toby...
...
Tobias Erin Rogers.
Toby's life was a tragedy. Because of his Tourette syndrome and disorders, he'd been bullied all his life. He was also abused by his dad often, along with his older sister, but he was abused by his dad more often than his sister. His parents would fight a lot over the way he's being treated at home.
His older sister, Lyra, who he had loved dearly, was the only person he could open up to. He tells her how he feels, what's going on at school, and all that stuff.
Out of his disorders, his favorite was being completely numb to pain. He couldn't feel the pain of being beaten up by his father or his bullies. His least favorite was his Tourette syndrome, of course. To him, it was a pain in the ass and annoying. He didn't like having to stutter in every sentence he says, ticking every other minute, or twitching and messing up on something- such as writing or dropping plates.
Toby didn't like waffles much. He's okay with them and eats them from time to time, but not all the time. Toby, because almost no one wanted to be around him, didn't have anyone but his sister Lyra to open up to. When she wasn't around, the voices in his head would help him cope with his life.
The voices in his head weren't the good type of voices. They were the kind of voices who'd slowly drive you insane until you couldn't handle it anymore. As far as Toby's concerned, all voices in your head aren't good voices at all. The only way they're 'good' is that they're always there. Always there. Every day. Every. Single. Day.
Due to his disorders, he was never able to make friends.
...Until now...
When he...
Helen...
Came into his life.
...
Highschool.
Now.. Both Helen and Toby had someone outside of their personal way to cope with their life. They could rely on each other when times are tough. Whatever they went through, they went through it together.
"Together forever."
It wasn't an official promise, but you know... It's fate. Destiny...
