"Jae, I'm gonna go to Marquis' place tonight." Mina disclosed to her friend as she washed her hands. They were in the restroom of the diner. She continued, "Do you mind... if Desmond takes you home?"
Jaden rolled her eyes internally, then looked at her friend. She already knew this would be her plan all along. She always doing something. "That's fine," she agreed, keeping an unbothered face.
Mina's eyes focused on her. "Really?" She was surprised. "Like I know y'all been over there in the corner all touchy-feely and shit. It's cute."
"We not touchy-feely, but I mean," Jaden started, "The nigga is fine, and I get good vibes from him, you know." She gushed.
"I feel you, girl. I like the way he makes you really smile. I haven't seen that from you in a minute." Mina admitted, "But if somethin' go wrong, you know I'll pull up and shoot that nigga, aight?"
"I believe you," Jaden laughed.
The women finished and walked back out to their table.
"Y'all ready to go?" Marquis stood from the table. "Mina, you cool with dropping me off at my place?" He asked casually.
"Yeah, I'll give you a ride," she smiled at him seductively. "Desmond, you got my girl, Jae right?" She smiled innocently at him as if this wasn't already their plan.
Desmond turned to look at Jaden who gave a tight-lipped smile. "As long as she's okay with that."
"I'm okay with it." She responded.
"Then we good."
The four of them exited the diner to the parking lot. Desmond opened the car door for Jaden to get inside before walking over and exchanging words with Marquis.
"I'll hit you tomorrow, bruh," Desmond spoke first as they dapped.
"Don't go fallin' in love, but hit that shit extra hard for me." Marquis joked.
"Man, you sick," Desmond playfully shoved his friend. "I hope you cleaned up that messy ass apartment."
"Imma nigga, my house not supposed to be clean." He leaned closer, "I'm taking her to the lowkey spot anyway," he laughed walking away to Mina's car to get in.
"Yeah right," Desmond muttered, walking back to his car, getting into the driver's seat.
Jaden sat in silence trying to let her nervousness subside.
"You ready?" Desmond asked once he'd seen Mina's car exit the parking lot.
She nodded.
"Where to, pretty lady?"
Jaden smiled before answering, "I live kinda far." She disclosed wincing her face.
"That ain't no problem, boo. Just put it in the GPS for me," he handed her his phone to input in the address. She typed it and gave the phone back to him. "You drive this far every night?" He asked, seeing the destination was almost an hour away, without traffic.
"Umm, yeah," she felt bad.
He backed out of the parking space, "Aight." He simply said, not wanting her to think he was displeased with the drive. He didn't mind at all.
He turned on some music and Jaden reclined her seat, getting comfortable as The Weeknd played through the car speakers.
"You smoke?" Desmond tried to break the ice, once he was on the highway.
"Yeah." Jaden perked up a bit.
He opened the center console and handed her an already rolled backwood, "Here," he passed her a lighter.
"This is just weed right?"
He looked at her offended, "Yeah. What else would it be?"
"I didn't want to assume. It could be anything."
"Nah, I don't smoke shit else." Desmond laughed.
"My bad, I just..." Jaden trailed off.
"If you want, you can roll another, just to make sure." He took a small pouch out of the console.
"No, it's fine. Sorry." She apologized.
"No need to apologize, I just want you to know you safe with me," Desmond confessed.
Jaden lit the blunt and drew from it thinking about what Desmond said, as she let the smoke marinate her lungs. "I really appreciate that, Desmond." She breathed out, passing the blunt to him.
He smiled
"Anything for you Miss Honey Baby."
