Keefe POV:
Keefe and Biana sneaked up behind Lord Cassius and watched him open the letter and put it on the table. He opened it and started reading out loud to himself.
"Dear beloved husband,
I still have many plans for you and my son; Keefe. But I do know one thing for sure, you will be more important to me than Keefe ever was and will be. Keefe will never answer any of my questions and help me find any answer but I know you will.
I know you know a lot about the Black Swan, tell me! Write back to me about what you know. If you don't I'll come and threaten you to tell me. I do know that you don't want to be just a "Daddy Dearest" and you want to be something more.
Come help me and join my side.
Love,
Your one and only loving wife, Lady Gisela!"
Keefe flinged hard after hearing what was said in the letter. Biana clung onto him tightly.
"We should leave." Keefe whispered, without his dad hearing him. Biana squeezed his hand hard in reply.
"Why the heck am I supposed to open the door? Doesn't that dumb old lady know that I'm the only one here and no one else comes here ever?" Lord Cassius asked himself. He flung open the door quickly and stood a few feet away laughing like a maniac.
Keefe froze. He had never seen his dad laugh. Ever. Never in his whole life had Keefe seen his dad laugh and yet when Keefe was invisible he was laughing like a maniac. Keefe only remembered to breathe when Biana shook him hard and yanked him out the door.
After a few moments of breathing hard, Keefe heard the door slam shut. Biana and Keefe turned visible again and walked in awkward silence after hearing the letter being read out by his "Daddy Dearest". They walked until they reached the place Sophie told them to meet at.
"They're back!" Linh said.
"Keefe! Biana! You're back!" Sophie said in joy. When neither of them responded her smile melted. Keefe couldn't help thinking that Foster looked cute when she worried.
"What happened?" Ruy asked in a gentle, understanding way. A worried look on his face. It seemed so brotherly, Keefe had to give Ruy at least some credit.
Sophie looked super shocked too, "How are you so gentle to Keefe and not to me?"
"I've been through it all. When I first joined the Neverseen, everyone asked me if I had parents. In school I got bullied and teased for it. I never really did stop getting asked those types of questions but I've learned to ignore everything." Ruy said, like everything he said was totally normal.
Sophie gave him a weird look and turned to Keefe. "What happened? Biana? Keefe? Answer me!"
"Tell us what happened?" Tam said.
Ruy gave Sophie a "shush, I know what i'm doing" look. "Keefe, I know it. I share the feeling in a different way. Tell me, what happened and how you feel."
When Keefe didn't answer, Ruy motioned everyone to move away. "Keefe, speak to me. Just to me."
"I- I-" Keefe started, he turned and saw Foster looking at him with a small smile. "I- My daddy dearest read the letter and it said that mommy dearest wants him to help the Neverseen and tell them information about the black Swan."
