It was a dark and gloomy Wednesday afternoon, I was sitting at my desk, taping my foot and biting the top of my pencil. It's been a week since the little incident with Clifford and since then, I haven't heard anything from him. No flowers have been sent, no more parcels, no emails, no text's from unknown numbers. Nothing. It's probably wrong of me to say I miss it, but I did. I also should've said something to someone about the whole thing, instead I decided to keep it to myself.

I was so deep in thought, I barely heard someone walk up behind me. They let out a deep, but loud sigh. I turned around slightly, only to see Sean.

I instantly rolled my eyes " What? ", he sighed and took a seat that was ' Too close for Comfort '. " I just wanted to say, I'm sorry anything I've ever done, I'm sorry for hurting you " he stated, I ran my fingers through my hair and sighed " Sean, I've gotten over all that " ( I really hadn't ). He nodded       " Then why won't you give us another chance? ", I folded my arms across my chest " Because, I don't want to. I don't trust you ". He adjusted his glasses and sighed " Alright fine, Then will you at least let me take you to dinner, to make up for all the shit I put you through. I swear it won't be a date, only two possible friends having dinner ", I thought for a second " Sure, but If I start feeling uncomfortable, I will get up and leave ". He nodded with a smile " Friends ", I smiled slightly and nodded. " Friends " I agree'd.

I grabbed lunch at Joe's, alone. I sat at a table with a half eaten Cesar salad in front of me, I just couldn't shake these feelings, I just knew people were lying to me about this case. Everyone was hiding something, and I was determined to figure out what was actually going on. I walked into Ashton's office with a bowl of soup and a cup of tea, he had a major cold and I figured I'd do something nice for him. " Lunch? " I asked him, he slowly nodded with a tiny smile. " Thanks Mel, I haven't had time to leave my desk in hours " he stated with a stuffed up nose, I smiled " Well you shouldn't of come in today, Ash you sound horrible ". He sighed as he sneezed " I know, but I need to get the paperwork for the Pearson case finished and then send it over to your fathers office ", I nodded and patted him on the shoulder " You work too hard man ", he grinned and continued to work.

I walked back to my desk, with a bored expression. I don't know why, but it seems like eryone's given up on the ' Clifford ' case. Nobody talks about it and when I try to bring it up, I get yelled at by the chief. It was weird. I sat down in my chair and pulled out my phone, Sean had already sent me a text, telling me that he'd pick me up around 7 pm. I let out a deep sigh and pushed the hair away from my face, I'm not sure why I agree'd to go to dinner with him, I guess it was from boredom... or maybe I was just a bit lonely.... I'm stupid. I sat there thinking about the Clifford case, how was I supposed to prove that they were Innocent. I'm not a lawyer, I just knew plenty of them. It was up to me to do some sneaky detective work, on my own. I started my computer and started looking through Old, unsolved cases. That's when I stumbled upon the one case, that lead me to become a detective.

I remember as if it were yesterday. * I was at least 10, maybe 11. We lived in a small neighborhood, Delilah lived next door and everything was fine. Until one night, when the police had been called for the house cross the street. A 16 year old girl had been watching her younger sister, who was around my age. The older sisters name was Celia Crood, she was so sweet and friendly, she used to bake cookies for the people at church.  But that night, she was found in her home, beaten up, throat slashed. Her younger sister Maloni, had been untouched and apparently slept through everything. So, everyone assumed Celia's boyfriend was the culprit, they assumed they had a fight and he committed the terrible act. And when he committed suicide the next day, it wasn't from sadness they said, no it was because he was guilty. So they just closed the case, or so I thought *.

But now I was wondering, why was it in the unsolved category, the police were so sure the boyfriend did it, so it should've been under closed. I printed out all the documents and information from the ' Crood ' case and shoved them into my shoulder bag, I was sure this was related to the Clifford case, somehow.
