Chapter 6: Plan B

Luke's POV

It feels like I've been alone in this dark room for about an hour and all I could think about is if Reggie and Alex are okay. If anything happens to either of them, I don't care what it takes, I'll kill Caleb myself.

Speak of the actual devil, Caleb walks up to me.

"What do you want!?" I ask. "I already told you, we're not joining your stupid house band! And if you hurt Reggie or Alex in anyway, I will kill you, I don't care that you're already dead!"

"Luke, dear boy..." Caleb says. I scoff. Dear boy? "Reggie and Alex already joined."

"What!?" I ask in shock. "N-no, you're lying!" I say. "They'd never join you!" They wouldn't, would they? "Prove it then."

"I wouldn't lie to you about this." Caleb says. "They joined and now you can either join as well or day goodbye to them forever, because after you decide to not join me I won't chase you down anymore. This is your last chance, if you don't join you'll never see them again."

He has to be lying. This has to just be to get me to join, right? Right?!

But if he is telling the truth, I can't just abandon them. How do I know I can trust him? If I join and he's lying, then I'm stuck and I still won't get to see them again. If I don't join and he's telling the truth, I still won't see them again.

Maybe the best option is to join him. If he's telling the truth, we'd all be together. If he's not, then he has my soul but at least Alex and Reggie would be free, but would they just leave me here? No, of course not. They'd join Caleb.

And Caleb knows this. This is what he wants, for me to believe him so I join so that way Alex and Reggie will follow me. It has to be his plan, because if it's not than I'm risking everything, I'm risking Reggie and Alex.

"No." I say. "I'm not joining you."

"So you want to be difficult?" Caleb sighs. "Guess we're going with plan B.

Before I know what's happening next, I black out.

Caleb's POV

Possession is always a very effective way to get what you want. I possessed that boy Nick for a while to get close to Julie to see if I could figure out if the boys were still around. It didn't work sadly, which is why Trevor had to tell me ab them. How can they be visible to all lifers? And this Julie girl can touch them now?

Maybe I got this all wrong and the boys aren't powerful at all, and it's Julie who's making all this happen. Maybe she's the one I need.

Well I already possessed Luke, and that sh*t takes a lot of energy outta me (which is why it was plan B and not plan A, you should only use possession in an emergency) so I'm gonna get something out of it.

I feel Luke trying to fight inside me, he's a strong soul, but I'm stronger. (I'm Caleb freaking Covington, of course I'm stronger.) He should really not spend all his energy or when I come out he could fade away.

I poof to the black rook where I left Alex and Reggie, ready to pretend to be Luke. It will be risky, they're his best friends they can easily spot any mistake I might make.

"Luke!" Reggie runs up and hugs me. "You're okay."

When Reggie ran up and hugged me, I felt something very weird...It was Luke, I know it was. It was like a feeling of love...but it wasn't the love you'd feel for a friend. Luke is in love with Reggie, it all make sense now.

I feel Luke fight me even harder, trying to get control over his soul again to step away, but I remain in control. I wrap my arms around Reggie. "Hey Reg." I say.

Stay away from him! I hear Luke shout from the inside. He sounded less angry and more desperate.

"How'd you get here?" Alex asks. If I can recall....I don't think Alex is much of a hugger so I don't go in for one.

"I don't know, I guess Caleb must have poofed me here." I say.

"Do you know what he's planning?" Alex asks.

"No, no not really." I say. "When he first out me in that other back room though, he said that it was Trevor who told him we were alive."

"Bobby? He's working with Caleb?" Alex says in shock.

"He said it was them who posioned out hotdogs."

"What?" Reggie says. "B-but Bobby was our friend."

"I guess it was all fake." I say. It was all fake.

Caleb, if I join you will you leave them alone? Luke says, still vigorously trying to fight me without success.

Luke, you need to stop fighting and shut up. The more energy you spend the less likey you'll survive when I exit you. I tell him.

Screw you! He shouts.

I ignore him and keep my attention Reggie and Alex.

"We need to find a way out of here." Alex says. "Me and Reggie can't poof, maybe you can?"

"I tried." I say.

"Try again, maybe now you know that he poofed you here." Alex says.

"Yeah, okay." I say. "Here take my hands. "

Reggie and Alex grab my hands and I poof it's three (four if you count Luke, but the two of us or in one entity so.....)

We crash land in the studio and for a second I lose control.

Luke's POV

Caleb was controlling me, he was me, he was possessing me. I kept trying to fight him and gain back control, to warn Reggie and Alex.

He poofs all of us back to the studio and we crash land, and I feel myself in control again. I spring up and quickly back away from Reggie and Alex.

"You guys can't trust me!" I quickly say.

"What do you mean?" Alex asks, taking a step forward.

Just as I was about to respond, Caleb takes back over.

"I mean that Caleb could have done something to me, he could be using me." Caleb says. "You have to be careful, make sure I'm really me and he's not possessing me or something."

What was is angle? He was possessing me so why would he tell them to be careful.

"Okay....well how did the three of us meet?" Reggie asks. "Caleb wouldn't know that."

Yes! Yes Reggie you're a genius! Caleb won't be able to answer and-

All of the sudden I feel a sharp pain in my head.

"We meet at the park." Caleb says. "You were sitting on the swing alone so I went up and asked if you wanted to play in the sandbox with me. Alex was in the sandbox, and the tree of us started talking about anything and everything, becoming best friends."

How....how did Caleb know that? Did he have access to everything I knew? If he has access to everything I know, does that mean I have access to what he knows? If so...I could figure out his plans!

"Yeah, yeah that's right." Alex says.

"So it's really you." Reggie smiles. I wish I could tell him how wrong he is, but at least I get to see his bright shinning smile.

"Yeah, just ask me any question at any time to make sure it's me." Caleb says.

"What do we do if he's possessing you?" Alex asks.

"You do what you have to do, even if that means killing me." Caleb says.

"No." Reggie says. "It won't come to that. We aren't gonna kill you."

"Let's hope you don't have to." Caleb says.

What Caleb said got me thinking, if I die, so would he, as long as he was still inside me. Maybe it was the only way. Of course the likely of Caleb slipping up was unlikely. Next time I get control, I have to do something that I'd never do. Something to make them think I'm Caleb so they can at least know not to trust me.
