Chapter 2: The list

(A/N: How are you today/tonight? I hope this chapter doesn't suck. It was written at 1 AM and it's kinda boring. Hopefully you haven't given up on me as an author. I'm really excited to write more about this couple. I have some cute ideas. Anyways, let's go!)

Peter walked into the dorm to see James, Remus, and Sirius all sitting on the floor with a piece of parchment and a quill in front of them. This surprised him, because it was 1 am and Peter had just gotten back from studying in the common room. The boys seemed to be making a list of some kind. "Whatcha doin'?" Peter asked sleepily, and James immediately grabbed the parchment and hid it under his bed.

"Nothing, Wormy." Sirius said, trying to act casual, but failing miserably. "C'mon guys, you can tell me, 'm your friend." Remus, Sirius, and James all exchanged looks before collectively sighing. Peter looked at them with a weird, slightly confused, but calm look etched into his face. "Fine-." Remus started, but Sirius cut him off. "I've been dying to spill this. James has a crush on Lily, no shit there, but he also has a crush on my brother, which is super gross, bro, and he doesn't know what to do so we are helping him."

James gave Sirius the most nasty look he could muster. Sirius shrugged and Peter stood stunned, while Remus cringed at the ground. "...cool?" James sighed in relief, and Sirius looked smug as fuck. "Told you guys he would be chill with it." Remus said, and James nodded. "Um... I'm gonna- I'm gonna go..." Peter said, before leaving the dorm as fast as he could. James reached under the bed and pulled out his list again.

"Where were we?" He scanned down the list and saw the past work. Pros and Cons. Pros of Regulus, Pros of Lily. Cons of Regulus, Cons of Lily. So far, the biggest con on Regulus' behalf was the fact that he was Sirius' brother. The biggest con in Lily's behalf was the fact that she hated him. James groaned out of desperation and said "Merlin, what do I do?"

"Not screw up." James glared at Sirius, and he put his arms up in a fake surrender. "Geez, I was just kidding." James scanned down the list, his mind at work. "Okay, how about this..." Remus started, and James desperately looked up at him with hope in his eyes. "You ask Lily out, and if she says no, ask Regulus. If she says yes, go out with her." Sirius nodded along, staring at Remus.

James looked between his two friends and nodded. "Sounds good." He said. He shoved the list back under his bed and stood up, stretching. He yawned a little. "Well, I'm going to bed. G'night guys." The boy collapsed on his bed, drawing his curtains around him. Sirius and Remus caught eyes and stared at each other. They were so gay it wasn't funny anymore. Remus was the first to move, blushing crimson, he stood up and left to retrieve his book from the common room. Sirius flipped onto his bed, landing upside down and chuckling to himself.

Although James was tired, he couldn't help but stay awake. He quietly pulled out the soon-to-be-completed  Marauders Map and used the "Lumos" charm. He could see Regulus in Slytherin dorms, and Lily in the common room, the map only glitching every so often. Wait- the common room? James did a double take. That couldn't be right. It was past midnight. An idea struck him. He smirked a little bit. It was a stupid idea, but sometimes there is a fine line between stupidity and bravery.

James got up as silently as he could and tip toed out of the now dark room. He sat on the staircase and used "Accio" to get some more parchment and a quill. He scribbled some words down, with probably messy handwriting,  and charmed the parchment to fly down to Lily. He watched from the staircase as she read it, and briefly caught her beautiful green eyes. He sprinted back up to the dorm and jumped into his bed, closing the curtains and smiling to himself.

He just asked out Lily Evans. For the millionth time. But this time, instead of obnoxious, it was sincere.
