I haven't ever been to this store in the town before. But there are gummy bears here. So it must be worth it! I look over and through the aisle. Brent is holding a bag of chips and salsa. I grab a bag of gummy bears when I find them and we start walking to the cashier. A boy follows behind us. Brent wraps an arm around my waist and I look behind us. The boy looks at me and starts talking. It's Jose.
"You're the girl from Hot Topic. Nice to see you so soon." He says with a small laugh.
"Yeah. Jose right?" I say making Brent turn around as I do.
"Yep. And this is your boyfriend right?" He asks.
"Fiancé." He says looking over at me.
I turn and look at him. What is he talking about? He says "Excuse me." And he pays for our stuff. We start walking back to Brent's car. We both get in and he turns on music.
"He would've kept flirting with you if I would've said yes to being your boyfriend. Fiancé makes you sound more committed. Plus, I don't trust guys like him. Gauges, short spiked red hair, tattoos everywhere." He says.
"Hmm. I like those type of people. Wait, Hayden and I have gauges and tattoos. I mean, if you don't trust people like that, I should just...leave." I say smiling.
He pulls the car over and turns it off. We are next to a forest. This is how all horror movies start! Is this how I am going to die? In a car with the one person I trust the most? Yep, this definitely sounds like a horror movie. Okay well that's great. He turns to me. The only light helping me right now is the street light, and it's not even that great.
"Katelynn Ann Hall. Please, never joke about that again, because I never want to lose you. Hey, look at me. I mean this okay, I seriously love you so much Kat. You mean so much to me and I really hope that you know that." He finishes.
"I will never leave you. I promise."
That's all I can say. That's all I think to say. Nothing else comes to mind. But I can't promise something like that. He smiles. He holds his arms out and hugs me. He tells me to go get out of the car. I do and so does he. This is a horror movie. He starts walking into the forest and I follow after. He stops in an area and looks around, then nods. As if he was confirming something. Then he starts walking again. After a while more of walking, we finally stop. He goes up to this huge rock and climbs on it. I don't want to climb. I get to the top and sit next to him. At the end of the rock, there is nothing. It's a cliff. He's going to fucking push me off.
"This used to be where I would go to think." He says.
"It's nice up here. I like looking at the stars." I say wrapping my arms around my stomach.
"Are you cold?"
I shrug. He takes off his jacket and puts it around me. "Here." He says. I scoot in closer to him and lay my head on his shoulder. I like these moments way more than anything. We sit there in silence for about ten more minutes. This is nice. My phone starts buzzing in my pocket and I get it. A call from Hayden. I push answer.
"Yes?" I say.
"Watcha doin?" He says.
"Brent. What do you need?" I ask.
"Go to your house. There is a surprise for you."
"I'm busy." I say.
"House. Now."
I groan and say "Okay." Then he hangs up.
"My house. Hayden insists." I tell Brent. He rolls his eyes then gets up. The thing is,
I don't want to leave. He doesn't either and I know that. We just shouldn't go. It would be easy and we could stay here. We both start walking towards the car. It was a ten minute walk and it should take fifteen minutes to get back to my house. I turn up the radio as loud as I can in the car after connecting my phone. He starts driving and puts his hand on mine. He probably knows why we are going to my house.
