A/N: Y/P stands for "Your pronouns"
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Once you believed that you've seen everything there was to be seen in your bedroom, you decided to venture out and explore the other rooms on the second floor. You stood at your doorway facing the hall. There was another room directly in front of you.
Curious, you approached it and opened the door. Though it was nearly pitch black, you could tell that it was an ordinary bathroom. But when you turned on the light, you saw a red mat, red shower curtains, red toilet seating, etc.
Was there any part of this house that wasn't red? Maybe William wasn't so mean after all if he let his lover decorate the majority of the house.
You shut the bathroom door and decided to take a look at the final room located at the end of the hallway. But the farthest you were able to go was when you were attempting to open the door when you suddenly felt a hand firmly grip your shoulder. Your soul nearly escaped from your body as you didn't hear a sound of anyone approaching you.
"Now, what do you think you're doing, (Y/N)?" It was Grell, asking both sweetly and though not exactly stern, but still intimidating.
You slowly turned around. When you saw how much Grell towered your small frame with a neutral expression, you anxiously looked down at the carpeted floor. "Just looking to see what this room was..." you replied shyly.
"Don't worry, you're not in trouble," Grell told you reassuringly. "It was my fault for not telling you earlier: You are free to wander around anywhere you like in this house, except for this room and the basement. This room here is just mine and Will's room. It's a child-free zone."
"Basement?"
Grell nodded. "There is a door in the kitchen that leads to it."
"What's in the basement? Why can't I go in there?" You asked.
"My, my, so many questions today." Grell smirked. "If you truly must know, it is simply too dangerous. There is loads of old rubbish in there that makes the whole place a hazard to a kid like you. You'd get hurt instantly. Do you understand, darling?"
You nodded. Understandably, a large part of your young mind was still curious as to what would happen if you were to sneak in the basement, regardless of what Grell had just explained to you, when no one was looking. But for now, you decided not to.
But maybe someday you'll gather the courage to take a peak. After all, as long as your adoptive parents didn't find out, what's the worse that could happen?
"Excellent!" Grell beamed. "Now come on, let's eat!" You followed her as you both descended the stairs. Just as you and Grell officially set foot on the first floor, there was a knock on the door.
"Does the world want us to starve?" Grell said after an irritated sigh. "Just who the devil could that be!?"
You watched as Grell walked over to the door and opened it. Just when you saw who it was at the door, you sprinted towards the sofa and leaped under the pile of blankets. Your frame was small enough to where you were able to easily conceal yourself.
The person at the door was one of your former guardians back in the foster home you came from.
Did she come to take you away?
From your hiding spot, you could hear the conversation going on between Grell and your former foster parent.
"Hi!" She greeted Grell. "I just stopped by to drop your adoption certificate off. I tried to give it to you earlier but you left in such a hurry. How is (Y/N) doing so far in (Y/P) new home?
