"You were gonna call me, weren't you?" I sighed as I flopped down onto my bed, staring up at the blank, white ceiling. The voice of Alex filled my ears, along with his soft grunting, indicating he was likely working out.
It's been a couple days since Malory's dinner, and since I've mentioned Alex, I couldn't stop thinking about him. I didn't know why, but I just felt like I wanted to hear his voice. When I called him about 45 minutes ago, he was caught off guard, honestly thinking something was wrong.
Now, I'm not like Archer and tell everyone what I do for a living. The whole reason of being a secret agent is having secrecy. But, my grandparents and Alex do know what I do. They don't know what entirely goes on, occupation wise, they just know I'm a field agent.
I never tell them who I work with, who my boss is, they just know that I work with idiots and have a snobbish woman as a boss, that's all.
"I was thinking about it." I admitted. "But, I didn't know if that would've been the right call." He sighed, and I could hear the sound of a weight being placed on the ground, clarifying he was working out.
"Well, I doubt it would've worked out anyways." I frowned lightly. "I've been in Miami for almost a month." My eyes widened slightly as I slowly sat up. "Taking a little vacation from the hospital."
Alex studied medicine back in college, and shortly became a doctor.
"Wait, you've been in Miami?" I asked, shocked. I was just in Miami with Archer during that Conway business. "I was just there not that long ago."
"Shit, really?" He chuckled out. "Did you visit your grandparents?" I sighed softly as I flopped back down onto my bed. My grandparents lived in Florida, but in Orlando. There was no way I could've went to go visit them because I was on that mission with Archer and Conway.
"No." I breathed out. "You know they're in Orlando, right?"
"Oh." He chuckled out, again. "Shit, I forgot." I rolled my eyes playfully. "But, you were in Miami for work?" I sighed as I closed my eyes.
"Yeah." I breathed out. "That was a rough trip."
"What happened?" I scoffed lightly as I opened my eyes back up.
"You know I can't tell you, Alex." I said, causing him to chuckle.
"Right." He stretched the word. "But, you can tell me that you wanted me as your plus one to a dinner that your boss was having at her place, huh?" I rolled my eyes.
"I didn't necessarily want you, Alex, I-"
"You needed me." He corrected to cut me off. "That's sweet." I rolled my eyes with a sigh. "No, Lila, I'm just fucking with you." I rolled my eyes, again. "Are you working?"
"Not at the moment, no." I told him. "Today is my day off, but knowing how my boss is, that could change any-" I stopped as I heard someone pounding on my front door, causing me to sigh. "minute." I finished.
"What's wrong?" He asked.
"Nothing." I breathed out as I got up from my bed. "I'll call you back." I ended the call, and slipped my phone into my pocket. I wasn't dressed special because today was my day off, and I was just planning on lounging around the house. I wore grey sweatpants, grey ankle socks, a long sleeve white shirt with my hair up in a messy ponytail.
I walked downstairs, and up to my front door. I peeked out of the curtain, and was surprised to see Malory standing there, wearing a tan trench coat, holding a cup of coffee in her hand with big, white sunglasses on. What the hell was she doing here?
