Stuttgart, Germany
2 years. 2 years on the run, hiding the best I could.
As soon as I landed after jumping off the red room, I made a run for it. Landing in St. Petersburg, I began looking for ways out of here, and I caught a train.
After many many train rides, and a few too many fights, I find myself here in Stuttgart, Germany finding a little peace.
I look mostly the same. My auburn hair is now a more prominent red and I actually have kept in shape well.
I was sitting in a local bar catching up on the news when this story popped up,
"We're following an ongoing story that started 3 days ago In Washington D.C. The triskelion's came crashing down, following the efforts of Captain America and a new face, Sam Wilson. This event follows the downfall of the group known as S.H.E.I.L.D, who had been secretly run by the Nazi Organization, Hydra, since it's founding." The news Read.
That last part made me shiver. I took a sip of my Whisky Sour and pretended that the news didn't matter. I took a mental note of the bar around me and the whole area felt off. I felt as if I was being watched.
As a red room spy, we were close with our ally Hydra, even so much as being trained by their own assassins. I only wish I remembered more. The KGB took a page from hydras book and began brainwashing us to be obedient, making me forget some of the people I met. But, I do seem to remember a red star.
The news continued, "While this event occurred former KGB spy, Natasha Romanoff aka Black Widow, leaked all of SHEILD's secure files. This disabled the organization, leaving shield with nothing but the past to clean up. It is unclear at this moment the location of Steve Rogers and Sam Wilson. Romanoff was on Capitol hill early morning yesterday facing possible charges for the leaked information, it is unclear where she went following the hearing."
"Natalia?" I whispered. My sister.
This Natasha Romanoff was not the Romanoff I knew. I knew her as the brutal, murderous spy that has the second highest kill count in the KGB, only behind me.
Natasha was not only the perfect spy, but she was my older sister. Biologically. She never acted anything like a sister, especially in the red room. Throwing me under the bus or making me fight the stronger and older girls who she knew would beat me. In her eyes I was only known as just another widow, not Katerina Romanoff, the only spy better than she was.
Almost like clockwork, I left my seat at the bar to leave, and standing behind me was Natalia. The murderer herself. Making her presence known and leaving me confused as to how the hell she got here.
"Did you miss me sistra?" She uttered.
"Fuck you" I remarked.
She was the last person I wanted to see. I guess she finally decided to come back for me after leaving me in the dust when she escaped.
"I see you don't need my help. I told Cap I was leaving to go start a new life, but I knew I wanted to find you first.... You're coming with me Katerina; I have a new life I want you to be a part of."
"Nat, what makes you think I want anything to do with you. You treated me poorly, made me suffer and hurt me in every way possible. That doesn't seem very sisterly to me." I responded with a snarky attitude rolling my eyes.
"I did it to make you better. I knew one day you would get out and fend for yourself. The world is tough, and I knew that. I know you hate me for everything I put you through and I'm sorry, but a life worth living, can't happen unless you can protect it, and that's what I wanted for you." Natasha added. I call Bullshit.
I can't help but wonder how she found me. I mean yes, I did in some turns have to hurt someone who got too close to finding me, but she just went completely undetected.
I left the bar, hoping to leave her behind. I turned left out of the door and was heading back to my apartment. But with Nat close behind she followed wanting to continue our conversation.
"Nat, how did you find me?" I said first.
"Ha, you think it was hard. Come on, we use the same tricks. I hacked into the radio of the red room to attempt to find your location, but I found out they had no record of you anymore. It was then I had realized you had escaped. I did some more digging and hacked into their camera footage and saw that it happened 2 years ago. So, I figured you come here. I know you were little, but you have the photograph of us and mom and dad in front of this very bar. It was where Dad proposed to Mom, the happiest memory you have." She said.
Damn. She's smarter than I remember. That was the one photo I always kept with me. Somehow part of me wanted to believe I could find the happiness I had in that moment, but as I got older that hope went away.
"Come back with me, Things are pretty crazy right now, I need to rebuild a life and I know you do to." Nat continued.
Should I? I mean at this point I'm no more free than I was in the Red Room, at least if I'm with Nat for a while I don't have to fight alone. I stopped walking and turned to face her.
"On one condition, can I get Cap's autograph?" I chuckled.
Natasha laughed with me and we continued walking, into a better life together. Hopefully
