Brooklyn, New York Post Blip

"I don't know man, are you sure this tech is what you should be using?"

"Sam, this is Wakandan technology, Shuri developed it solely to check for her facial recognition, if anything is going to find her, this is it." I responded.

Shortly after everyone went their separate ways I came back home to Brooklyn to begin my search for Kat. Dragging Sam with me, we have been using facial recognition scanners across the world to locate Kat, but nothing ever comes back with a hit.

Life can be a little lonely now without Steve, Natasha and Katerina. I mean Sam is a great roommate but he's not the best at sharing and he has this weird obsession with never doing the dishes. I mean come on, it's so simple. But besides that, Sam is all I have, the only family that never left me and honestly, I am super thankful for him.

"Alright Buck," Sam started, "Listen Man, have you thought about, maybe if, she's g-"

"No. Sam. Don't even start." I responded.

"Buck, I'm sorry man I just think you should start thinking about it."

"I can't start thinking about it cause I know I'll never stop and, and I.." I started as tears swelled in my eyes, "I can't live with myself until I know where she is. I can't live everyday knowing what is out there, after what I have been through, hell what she has even been through, and I can't live knowing she could be going through it all again."

"Okay Buck." Sam said as he walked over to me and put his hand on my back. "I've got your back."

It's strange really. Me and Sam getting along and working together. The only person I ever grew close to is Steve.

Nothing could ever come close to the bond Steve and I had. I remember we were sitting in a bar after he rescued me from the Hydra camp and he said to me,

"What about you? You gonna follow Captain America into the jaws of death?"

And all I said was,

"Hell no. That little guy from Brooklyn who was too dumb to run away from a fight? I'm following him."

That is what was different about Steve. He never needed the serum, or the title or the girl for Christ's sake he was Captain America inside and out. Always the one to make the sacrifice play, the one to stand up for someone and that is what I truly admired about him. Honestly, the more I grow closer to Sam, the more I see those same qualities.

When Steve left us for good, and came back to say goodbye to Sam, He gave Sam the shield. People thought I would be mad, or jealous that I wasn't the one who got it, but honestly, I know I didn't deserve it. Something like that, such a symbol, should be presented as such. I'm too damaged, too much of a past.

Sam doesn't believe in himself though. He hardly even looks at the shield, refuses to pick it up and continue the legacy. I just hope one day he'll get the courage and do what needs to be done and become the symbol.

As we were talking, a breaking news headline appeared that got both of our attention

"Officials are on the scene in London, England where an attack has occurred in Trafalgar Square. Multiple 911 calls were made when an unknown individual began raining fire on those in the square. This attack had taken place at the same time as the Wakandan outreach center in London was doing its grand opening ceremony. The individual responsible for the attack wore an all-black mask that covered their whole face, as well as a hooded cloak covering the rest of their body. If you know any information that pertains to the identity of this individual, call authorities immediately."

"It never stops does it." I heard Sam utter from behind me.

"But why the Wakandans? I mean they keep their resources silent, who would know the truth about them?" I responded. I turned to look at Sam as he looked at me and shrugged. Who is this attacker, and what would they want from Wakanda?

"Someone knows something, and they shouldn't know anything." Sam said.

Here we fucking go again.
