Chapter 21: The patronus charm

Christmas break came to an end and the students filled the corridors of Hogwarts like they always did and all the decoration was gone

I was on my way to the Great Hall when I bumped into someone

There is no day in Anna Potter's life when she do not bump into someone

I hate myself

I hate life

I hate everything

And this someone turned to be the amazing Malfoy

I hadn't talked to him since our little session in the library

"Potter, I'm starting to think that because you can't stay away from me, you bump into me on purpose" He said smirking like an idiot

"Yeah, yeah, of course Malfoy" I walked past him and continued my way

I'm not in the mood today

After my classes, I went with Harry to Professor Lupin to learn today the patronus charm

"Hello Anna, Harry" he greeted us as he opened the door

"Hello professor"

"How are you today"

"Good"

"Okay, so here's what we're gonna do. Harry you will go first as the Dementors affect you more then you Anna"

"Okay professor. You know, I'm gonna stay outside and sit in the classroom to do my homework because I have a lot so when you two are done call me"

"Okay"

"Good luck Harry"

I went and sat on one of the seats of the classroom and started with my Transfiguration homework then Potions and Divination

After what felt like an eternity professor Lupin called me

Finally

"Okay Ann, with you we will not use the boggart as it's not a Dementor, you just have to learn it like any other spell got it"

"Yes professor"

"Good, now after me. Expecto Patronum" I did as he told me and after 5 times he continued "good, now think of a happy memory, a powerful one. Close your eyes and think about it"

I closed my eyes and tried to remember a happy memory

"Got it" He asked

"Yeah, I think so"

"Okay, try it now"

"Expecto Patronum, Expecto Patronum"

Nothing happened

"Expecto Patronum"

"What memory you chose"

"When I got my Hogwarts letter"

"You have to use a powerful one Anna, more powerful. One that makes you so happy, your happiest one. Try again"

"Expecto Patronum, Expecto Patronum. It's not going to work" I cried

"Anna, you just have to try, no one ever did it from the first time. Just try it. You can do it, just believe in yourself and in that happy memory, come on, last time, I promise"

I search for a happy memory

And then I got it

I got them

"Expecto Patronum" And with that a dog or something like that start jumping and twirling around me

"Excellent Anna, amazing. Not too many wizards can produce a corporal one from the first time. Amazing" he said smiling and looking at my patronus

"What is that professor"

"That Anna, is a fox terrier, this is a small yet fearless dog that loves being outside, and it means that you are spunky and loyal. The fox terriers work well in teams, so when teaming up with other patronuses you can't be beaten" He finished putting down the Patronus book he was reading

"That's like you Anna" Harry said smiling

"What memory did you use" Professor Lupin asked

"At first I thought when me and my best friends went to Hogsmeade and then when we did this snowball fight, then some memories with Harry when we were kids, about my dad, and about you" I said smiling

"I'm one of your happy memories" He asked smiling at me

"Of course"

I cared so much for him

I wish he is a member of my family not just a teacher that maybe in few years I will never see

He's an amazing person and deserves the best

And I can tell he isn't used to the idea of being the reason to put a smile on someone's face

"Anna, your patronus is so cute" Harry said

"I know right. Yeah, how things worked out with you"

"Brilliant" he hugged me "Thanks for being one of my powerful and happiest memory. You, mom and dad are my best memory"

"You are too one of my happiest ones" I said in a soft tone

"Your father would be so happy if he saw you two like this. He wished this all the time" He said smiling

"And I think he would be happier if his daughter gave his old friend and her favorite teacher a hug" I said looking at him "Can I"

He opened his arms and I rushed to hug him

"When I grow up I wanna be a Defense Against The Dark Arts' teacher"

"why"

"Because you're my idol"

"Really"

"Yes"

"Well, thank you Anna. But would prefer to be your second idol"

"Why"

"I don't want James to hunt me in my sleep" I chuckled at his words "Okay professor, you are my second idol. I'm gonna go now, I have to continue my Potion homework" I said 

"here before you go, take this. You need it after all the effort you put" He said handing me some chocolate

"Thank you"
