Strawberry Boy
Sunoo
~
The school bell rang, indicating that the last period had ended. Everyone left in glee as it was the last day of classes for the week, appreciating the incoming two days of freedom with a bit of easy homework. Amidst the rush, they still bid their teacher farewell once more.
Friday afternoon was mundane as it gets, with nothing spectacular going on yet with the semester still starting. The room began to empty, leaving the troubled student and his teacher in the classroom.
Wishing that he was one of the students that happily left, he could only stare at his scribbled paper with his shoulders hunched back. He knew it was coming.
If only the poor lad did his work and moved on with his day.
His advisor had her arms crossed as she reminded him of what he lacked. Soon enough, he grew tired while he felt downhearted, leaving the classroom after he was dismissed.
It was not the first time Sunoo encountered having to be scolded by that specific teacher, but he was not the type to purposely anger anyone by simply doing the opposite of what they wanted.
Walking down the hallway wasn't the worst thing he'd do despite stepping through it most of the time. The view outside the window made up for the tiring walk- as the sun rays slid through the glass. Whatever he underwent a while ago was shaken off a bit, but not enough to make him forget the anger displayed on his teacher's face, glowing insignificantly red like a tomato.
As he walked down the stairs, a smile crept on his face when he saw his friends idling near the stairs. What more when he spotted the orange ball wrapped around the hands of the other. Before they could process what happened, Sunoo rushed out of the exit after snatching the ball. "You should stop doing that!" the boy shouts, followed up with laughter as he and the rest run after Sunoo.
They played for a couple of rounds until the older students came and took up most of the court. Sunoo, Hyunjin, and Yeonjun sat on the bleachers feeling a tad bit embarrassed seeing how much better they are compared to them.
"I guess a bit of rest time isn't that bad"
Hyunjin says and gulps down the water in his bottle. Pants, shuffling, and the bouncing of the ball were only heard as they tried to catch their breath. While the two tried to cool down and relax, Sunoo's eyes twinkled. 'It must be delightful to be talented in doing the things you like.' he thought to himself and resumed spectating the match everyone enjoyed.
The sun has finally set. The three are finally preparing themselves to part ways after seeing how the older students did not have plans to leave anytime soon.
"I think your phone is ringing.."
Yeonjun hands Sunoo his bag. Before he proceeded with the call, he looked at the two who were patiently waiting for him while conversing with each other. He felt burdened with the sight."You can leave already. This phone call might take a while."
They bid each other goodbye and wished good luck for their upcoming tryouts. Thinking about it made Sunoo feel sick to his stomach. He wanted to vomit. He had never imagined that time would catch up too soon.
