~ Did I look that bad? ~

On second thought, "Do you want to stop by? We haven't eaten dinner yet."

"Don't you think it's too late..?"
Jake mumbles, checking his watch. The cycle back home took a while, seeing that they were preoccupied with the stars that shone above them, hitting the breaks ever so often.

"Sleepover?"

Jake's suspicion grew immediately upon the younger boy avoiding his gaze, not putting in the effort to hide his prominent expression.

As if he knew what Sunoo was exactly thinking by his tone and subtle movements, it gave him a hunch.

"...Are you reading a script? Who requested you to say this to me?"
Jake questions, implying that Sunoo never took the initiative to ask. Now that he did, the latter began to be inquisitive.

"My mom... Uh, she-"
The person being interrogated grew a face that proved his assumption, stammering away to find reasonable excuses that couldn't find their way at that moment.

Sunoo eventually backs down with his arms up, palms facing the taller male, signifying his loss.

Sunoo's mom was in the kitchen prepping dinner while the oldest child, his siblings, and his friend gathered around the table. Quietness occupied the dining room, with frequent stares darting at the unfamiliar face situated with them. Like an ordinary person, the guest wanted to crumple himself similarly to a piece of paper.

Sitting throughout the silence and stares gnawed at his consciousness, almost regretting the moment he gave in to the younger boy whose eyes screamed with pleading. What did Sunoo want that had him headstrong?

"I do not want to force you, but just this once. Think of this as a favour from your loss."

"Fine..."

Jake internally groans while keeping face, their brief exchange before entering the house echoed in his mind.

His misery ended unexpectedly right after Sunoo's mother called him and her son to assist her. A sigh escaped his lips, relieved to be saved from the additional holes that would have bored into his head.

In the process of walking to the kitchen, Jake quietly followed Sunoo, who was fixated on his phone rather than the guest he invited. From the urge of being childish, he snatches the shorter male's phone and runs to the kitchen, laughing at the exclamations that followed him.

During his escape, he was able to take notice of the pictures that hung on the walls of the house. There were many family pictures, solo shots, and images of pets. It warmed his heart.

A picture, in particular, caught his attention. It has caused him to drift and change his direction with ease.

"...It's not funny."
Sunoo watched Jake bend down from laughing too hard. He clenched his stomach and wiped away the tears that had formed in his eyes.

He remembered the day he got his haircut. Sunoo hated it so much to the point he wondered if it was done on purpose by the request of his mother. Rather, it was done hastily by the barber, giving not much of a thought and snipped away.

Complaints could not be made as it was hair. "It will just grow~" Sunoo could hear his mother's assurance echoing like it would turn things for the greater.

It will just grow, my butt.

The experience in school was not the best. Sunoo was the butt of the joke for a good month till his hair grew out of it, especially the unvarying, never-ending banter. Simple, friendly banter.
