Tine said, "I said get out. "

"Stop shouting, Tine. "

"What do you want me to do? Agree to this stupidity? "

"It's in your best interest. "

"Who the hell are you to decide what's best for me? Get out. "

"Tine, please stop being exasperating."

"You are acting like I'm being unreasonable. You people have made a joke of my life. "

"Crying over it won't solve anything. Think rationally. "

"I never agreed to this marriage, Sarawat. Why did you go ahead and announced it to the world. Now you are telling me we have a press conference to attend. I'm won't be part of this farce. "

"I'm not your enemy, Tine. I'm on your side. I want to protect you from my father. You don't know him. He can be ruthless if things don't go his way."

"Just like you. "

"What? "

"You are just like your father. If things don't go your way, you can be ruthless too."

"Tine, I have never been cruel to you. Yes, I have hurt you on occassions but I have not shown you cruelty. "

Tine scoffed at that, "Keep telling yourself that. Being married to you will be highest form of cruelty."

"It doesn't have to be that bad, you know. We can make this work."

"I don't want to. "

"Tine, let's not keep going in circle here. You have no choice. Think about your family. Do it for them. If you love them, then be ready at 5 pm, I'll take you for shopping. Don't be late. I hate waiting."

Tine was ready by 5 pm. He saw no other choice. He loved his family more than life itself. He couldn't watch them suffer because of his mistake. He had been the one who chased after Wat. Had he stayed away from Wat, this wouldn't be happening. Now that Tine remembered all those times he kept chasing Wat even when he ignored or rebuffed him, made it all look like karma. Now Wat won't leave him alone.

"Get in the car. " Wat arrived right at 5 in his shiny black car.

They didn't talk for the entire car ride. Tine had nothing to say to Wat and Wat was too sorry towards Tine to say anything. They reached the shopping complex.

"Why here? It's too expensive. I can't afford it." Tine said.

"I'm buying everything you need."

"No way. Don't show off your money in front of me. I'll buy my own stuff."

"Tine, please can't we ever agree on anything? "

"Never. You know why? Because I hate you. "

"I'm buying and that's the end of the discussion. Don't irk me."

Sarawat bought lots of clothes and shoes for Tine while the latter kept vehemently opposing the purchase.

"What am I supposed to do of so many three piece suits? I'm not a businessman, Wat. Where would I wear them? "

"You'll have lots of occassions to wear them."

Soon they were done with shopping.
"Tine, let's go and eat something."

"No."

"Why? "

"I'm not hungry."

"You must be. It's been 4 hours. "

"I said I don't want to eat. I'm going home. " Tine said resolutely.

"Let's have dinner then I'll drop you back."

"Why are you always trying to dictate my life? Am I human to you or do you see me as an object?"

"I didn't mean to do that. I'm sorry. Okay, you don't wanna eat that's fine. Let me drop you back."

Tine didn't speak anything after that. He was tired of being told what to do all the time.

"I'm going to your parent's house tomorrow, Tine. "

"Why? "

"I need to ask for their permission to marry you. I need to introduce myself."

"Why bother asking when you don't give a damn what their answer will be? It's not like I have a choice to decline it." Tine muttered bitterly.

"Tine, please don't look at it this way. I'll take care of you. I'll make sure you have everything you wish for."

"I wish your father was dead. " Tine realized he was too harsh. He shouldn't say things like that. He wished he could take back his words.

Wat stopped the car suddenly. He undid his seatbelt and then unlocked Tine's seatbelt. Tine was shaking in fear. He wasn't sure what Wat would do. Wat had nasty temper and he hated  whenever Tine badmouthed his father. Wat raised his hand and Tine cowered in absolute fear and shielded his face with his arms. He waited for blow to come but felt Wat's arms come around his shoulder and engulf him in warm hug.

"I know Tine, everything must be so hard right now for you. You must hate it so much. I know my father is being unnecessarily cruel to you and you hate him. He deserves your hate. You must be so scared and lonely. You must regret meeting me but Tine I don't.

Meeting you was the best thing for me. I know I treated you shabbily in starting. I never had friends and I didn't know how to make one. I was a jerk to you yet you smiled at me so sweetly it was hard to not like you.

I know I hurt you when I said I hated gays. I still don't like them and I'm not sure what I'm supposed to feel right now. But I am sure of one thing, I want to protect you from everything. I want to make you happy. Seeing you smile feels incredibly beautiful.

I'm contradicting myself but Tine hating gays is something I have been taught since young age. I can't let it go of at once. It'll take time but I'll learn to let it go. Tine, I hate forcing you to marry me but this is the only way to protect you. You may think I'm lying but I have no other option.

Give me one chance and I'll make you the happiest man alive. I promise you that. And don't ever shrink away from me in fear. No matter what you do or say I won't hurt you. I'll cut off my arms before I hit you, Tine. "

Tine felt touched at Sarawat's words. It made him a little happy to know he cared so much. He wasn't sure he could fully trust him yet. After everything Tine could hardly believe this was the same Wat. It didn't feel real to him yet. He was getting whiplash with all the mood swings Wat was having. Maybe he will learn to with time.
