Chapter 12: Betrayal and Revenge

I was confused that what did he mean by again? But then I looked at Diego and his eyes were filled with tears but his face showed an angry expression. I held his hands and said, "What happened, Diego?" He then replied, "Remember, Bella, in that hospital room, I told you that my wolf was saying we can't lose our mate again?" I replied with a yes and then he continued, "He was referring to Kai. He killed our mate, Leah. I met my mate when I was 5 years old. But this man, ruined it all. When we were 10, he killed Leah in front of my eyes and I couldn't do anything. And from that day onwards he is my biggest enemy." I turned to face Kai. I replied, "Kai, you just declared a war, a war which will be the last war for you. A war in which you will lose. And mind my words when I say I will be the one who'll kill you. Just wait and watch." I threw him out of our house like he was some parasite and then hugged Diego. I thought he needed it and I was right. He cried at my shoulder. I couldn't see him like this but we had a ceremony to finish. I said, "Diego, let's finish this ceremony and then talk. Okay?" he said, "Ok, Bella." We finished the ceremony and now we had to turn to our wolf forms. And a miracle happened, I turned! Everyone was like, Oh. My. God. My fur was of black colour and my eyes were greenish yellow. My black fur was leaving some kind of black smoke and it smelt like fire's smoke. My growl was so loud and had so much power in it that everybody bowed down to me, even my father.

We turned back to our human forms and everybody went to their respective rooms. I changed my clothes and as promised I went to the balcony to talk. I waited for 5 minutes and then Diego showed up. He said, "Bella." But I didn't turn around. I just sighed. Then he approached me and I felt a hand at my waist. Then I turned around and I saw him. He was standing just inches away from me. He then said, "I missed this, you know."

"I know, (sigh) I missed this too." Then I turned around and saw the moon. That night was a full moon night and the moon was beautiful. Diego then said, "You deserve to know what is this arrangement." He then let out a long sigh and then continued.

"This all started when I was 5 years old. I met Leah in a pack meeting. She was with the gold moon pack. It was my father's best friend's pack. And his daughter Leah, was my mate. She was my best-friend but when we were 6 years old, we knew that we were mates or our parents and elders knew. We then started to hang out more often. We used to go to park together, have dinners and have sleepovers. Our life was literally perfect until Kai came in. When we turned 10, Kai was here with his pack to have an alliance with ours but that all was just a big fat lie. He took me and Leah and ran to his hideout. Then he took a wooden stick, laced with wolfsbane, and carved this mark on my face. I screamed in pain and then he.... Umm.... Stabbed Leah in front of me and left her to bleed out to death. That was a pain I would've never imagined that I would feel. I then shut myself out from everyone even my parents. I would spend all my time in my room either reading a book or writing songs and playing them on guitar. But when I joined this school, I made friends. I then realised that when I shut myself out from everyone, I can't be happy. I need to socialise and talk and make friends, hang out with them. And after our group was formed, Nova entered the school. She was the bully of our school and the head cheerleader. I was the head of the football team but I quit after a year because of Nova. She was just following me like a lost puppy. But then her father and mine made a deal without my consent. The deal was that when we are of the age, we'll get mated. Because in order to be an Alpha you need a Luna by your side. At first, I didn't care much about it but when I first saw you in that hallway, bossing your brothers around, I fell in love with you Isabella. I knew that Nova was going to be my future mate but at that moment I didn't care about it. All I cared about was you. And when our eyes met, I was just mesmerized by them. Those ocean blue eyes of yours, anybody could be easily mesmerized with them. It was like everything in the hallway was gone and only you and I were in the hallway. That day when I went home, I told my father the reality about Nova and he threatened her father that if she doesn't change then we don't have any deal. But then he asked me that why didn't I tell him earlier and then I told him about you. He knew that you were my second mate. I was just over the moon when he said that. I never knew that second mate was even possible. But I guess in our case everything was possible. And when you left me this week, I was sure about one thing, I can't live without you, Butterfly. I just can't. We'll figure something out about Nova, but together. Please don't leave me again." While he was saying this his eyes were filled with tears and mine were already flowing down. I just couldn't see him like this and I just hugged him, kept my hand on his neck and our foreheads were joined. I then whispered gathering all the strength that was left in me, "I'm not going to, wolfie. Not now, not ever. I prom-" before I could finish what I was saying I felt a sharp object entering from the back. It was, NOVA and then Diego stood behind him with his head down. I said, "You... you just said all those things to get me to trust you. I trusted you, you bastard and you just backstabbed me." That knife was still in my back but it would heal when I would take it out. So, I took it out and threw it right in Nova's face. I reached her and said, "You'll regret this, both of you. Just wait and watch." Then I ran away. I reached a cliff and screamed at the top of my lungs. I just couldn't hold it in me together. All of the words that Diego said were just a big lie. All of his tears were crocodile tears. I just hated him. Nothing was left inside me other than the feeling of revenge. Revenge from Diego Santiago Lopez. He will regret betraying me, the alpha of the crescent moon pack.
