Chapter 14: Finding the Sword

During this time, I was searching for the sword too. Travelling the world, going to the most distant places, searching the caves, under water. Like I am searching the sword everywhere. Now, only one place is left to search. The abandoned town. And I hope that I'll find it there.

I went everywhere with Byron and Noah because I needed some backup with me if Kai ran into me. We were going to go to that town in the next two days. Until then, we were preparing for the war. We had to be more careful now because of the oak wood dagger. If they had that dagger, they had the upper hand. We had to find it and bring it back. So, we sent some soldiers from our pack to theirs in order to gain access to their penthouse.

The time passed by, and we were going to the abandoned town now. I had to leave everything in the hands of my father. He was going to cover for the time I was gone. When we were getting into the car Diego approached us and said, "where are you going?" Byron was going to answer that but I replied first, "Nowhere that you should be concerned of." He said, "Oh come on. I can help if that's something I know." We mind linked and discussed.

"What should we do?"

"I guess we should tell him and take him with us. He could be of help and we will have some more backup because now that we might know where the sword is, there is a chance that Kai would also know that."

"Yeah, I guess Byron's right. What do you say Noah?"

"I agree with Byron."

"Okay then it is decided that Diego will be going with us."

After this discussion I said, "Okay Diego. You are coming with us. You'll know where we are going once, we reach there." He nodded and hopped in the car. I was driving the car because I wanted to. I liked to drive.

When we covered half the distance, Noah was hungry and he needed to stop for a break. We all were hungry so we decided to stop at a food complex. I and Diego sat in the car while Noah and Byron bought us our food. But when they exited the car, they winked at me and said via mind link that enjoy your time. I just thought, They. Are. Idiots. We just sat silently in the car. But then Diego broke the silence and said, "So, are you dating anyone right now?" Like seriously? Dating anyone right now? Urghhh....

"Huh.... I don't have the time to date anyone now. I have to manage an empire and an army of hybrids. Also, I have to keep a check on all the wolf packs that they won't do anything stupid. It's not easy to keep a check on 30 or more pack of wolves."

"Okay, just asking. It's not that I am interested just trying to make a conversation."

"Seriously, just asking? And about what? Who am I dating currently? I mean really, Diego you sound so obvious. You could have asked how have you been, how's life and all."

"But I know how have you been. Byron...."

"Byron what?"

"Well, Byron told me, whenever he came to my house, about you. He even told me that you never dated anyone because you oathed that you would never love again and he told me one more thing."

"What did he tell you?"

"That you locked yourself in your own room for a year. You never spent any time with your family and you just got out when you had to train or when you had any pack meeting." I. Am. Going. To. Kill. Byron. He told everything to Diego and he expect me to leave him! Oh no he is not getting off this easily. I mind-linked him and Noah and told them to bring the food faster because we were hungry. When they sat in the car I said, "So, Byron what did you tell Diego?" I turned to look at him. He was a little bit nervous but he stood by his decision. He said, "You know, Buttercup, I shipped you both. Diego was a jerk to you. But when I first went to his house for some pack work, he told me what had really happened. I just couldn't keep him in the dark. So, every time he asked me something about you, I just told him but he made me promise not to tell you anything because he wanted to do it by himself. I know that you hate him Buttercup but please give him a chance. Wow, how the times change, right? I am asking you to give a boy a chance. *sigh* I guess he is the one little sister." This was the first time he called me little sister. He called me little sister once before, when I was with Gabrielle. I wish you were really with me Gabrielle, then any of this would never be happening. I just burst into tears. I couldn't hold them back.

After a while, I normalized and said, "Ok, big bro. I'll give him a chance but only when he promises that he won't leave me again." Diego then said, "Okay, butterfly. I promise." We then took off from the halt and the environment in our car was much better now. We were singing and were definitely happy.

But happiness in our family doesn't last for long.
