"And whats that?" I asked, my mouth mirroring his smile. He took a deep breath and looked into my eyes.
"If you would be my girlfriend."
I felt my heart leap through my chest and leave me alone in this situation. I looked down into my hands and smiled before I looked back into Nathan's eyes.
"Yes." I whispered. His eyes lit up for a quick second.
"Oh-I forgot about the caller. I have to go before they start acting like concerned parents." He said sarcastically. He stuffed his phone in his pocket and gave me a huge hug.
"Bye." I smiled. He smiled back at me and walked out the door. I slumped down on my couch and let out a sigh. My first boyfriend, kinda sad but still.
I pulled myself up from the couch and went to my room, smiling like a fool. Until I remembered there was school tomorrow and I had homework.
"Momm! I'll be in my room." I shouted down the hall to my mom. I heard a faint ok and stuck my head back into my room. Pulling out my books and dropping them on my desk, I searched for a pen and finished my work.
"Finally." I closed my textbook. I tossed the book on my bed and checked my phone.
N: Hey.
A: Hey, sorry I was finished that stupid essay we have due. After putting my books away I walked down the stairs again and into the kitchen.
N: You finished it now? Damn, cutting it close there.
A: Well, ya know me: ultimate procrastinator."What am I going to eat..." I tapped my phone on my hand and looked in my refrigerator.
"Nothing." I mumbled.
"You ok there kiddo? You look a little insane." My dad raised his eyebrows as he walked into the kitchen. He set his laptop on the table and glanced at our cupcakes.
"Hey Dad. I'm going insane because there is nothing to eat." I greeted him. I pulled out a slice of pizza that was packed away. Ha, they thought they could keep pizza hidden from me.
"Dammit you found the pizza." Dad said. He walked to the cabinets and pulled out a bag of chips.
"I should really eat healthy..." I said as I put the pizza in the microwave. "No I'm good."
"As long as you don't have PE a lot your good." He said before eating another chip. He reached out a hand for a cupcake and let it hesitate over a thinly frosted one. He finally reached down and took the cupcake, studying it before taking a bite. Probably thought it might kill him. I nodded and ate my pizza.
Before long I was dragging myself up the stairs and onto my bed. I took out my phone and was nearly blinded by the brightness.
N: Ha. See you tmm.
A: Bye.I sent my late reply, set my phone on my table, and fell into a deep sleep. After what felt like a few minutes I was dragging myself out of bed and into my morning routine.
"Goood-mourning!" I said as I walked down the stairs. My mom gave me a raised eyebrow and pushed a cup of coffee my way.
"Its iced Coffee I made extra." She said as she took her own cup. She put on her coat and grabbed her keys, gave a kiss on the forehead and walked out the door.
I did the same a few minutes later and was locking the door behind me. Another day of boring notes and lectures. Now that Nathan told me what was bothering him I needed to figure out how to help him.
