Chapter 3

"Finally!!" Kayla cheers when we finish our project with 20 minutes left of class. I grin and lay our project down.

"So Nathaniel, do you like the school?" Kayla asks.

"Yea. Its cool here. And it has cool people" Nathaniel answers and glances at me. He plays it off by looking around the classroom.

"Ok class! Those were amazing projects and I loved to listen to your work. Sadly this period is over. Theres no homework! Now off to your next class!" Mr. Vetrin announced, receiving cheers from the class.

"Whats the next class?" Nathaniel asks me.

"Uhhm...math" I answer looking at Kayla unsure.

"Yep!" Kayla answers, a little too happy for math class.

"Of course shes happy. Shes the math genius of the grade" I roll my eyes sarcastically.

The rest of the classes before lunch speed by, and next thing I know im walking out of science.

"Nathan, Kayla needed to talk to the teacher. So we can go to lunch" I catch up to him.

"Hmm so now we have nicknames huh?" Nathaniel looks at me smirking. I can feel my cheeks heating up.

"Uh-yea, why not. At least its not 'Nat'" I tease him. "Unless thats what you want me to call you?"

"No! Im fine with Nathan. My name is a mouthful. Now im going to call you Ali" He says laughing. We walk a little in silence. Not the awkward silence, but the good kind.

"So...wanna hang out after school?" Nathan asks.

"Sure, I need something to do anyway" I answer.

"Ok" He smiles as we walk into the cafeteria. Finding our seat I set down my stuff, claiming my usual spot on the round table.

"Come on, lets get on line before it gets long" I say pulling him by the hand. We stop at the end of the line and im about to say what we have when I realize im still holding his hand.

"Oh-uh-heh. Sorry" I start to let go.

"Its ok, I would've been lost without you" He smiles at me. Instead of pulling away his hand he moves it so his hand doesn't slip.

We sit down as Kayla stands on the line.

"What do you want to do after school?" I say eating my salad with ranch and pepsi.

"We can get icecream. I'll buy. Unless we go to a restaurant because that salad is way to small" He looks at my lunch.

"I'm not that hungry! Ice cream sounds good though" I say chuckling.

"Alright" He smiles at me.

"UGH! That line is WAY to lonngg!" Kayla says dropping down next to me.

"Yea, the food is good so why would people not get school lunch" I say.

"I dont know! They just need to hurry up" Kayla answers eating her rice and chicken.

"Hey Ali. Last period was so boring right?" Nathan says walking with me to my locker.

"Yea" I answer putting my books away. "At least we have no homework"

"Yea. So were still going for ice cream?" Nathan looks at me trying to read my face.

"Yea, of course" I smile.

We walked out of the school after saying bye to Kayla.

"What flavor do you like" I asked Nathan.

"Huh?" He answered.

"Of ice cream?" I said chuckling.

"Ohhh. I dont know. Maybe chocolate" He said.

"Me too!" I said.

We walked into the ice cream shop and Nathan looked around for some seats.

"You go sit while I order the ice cream. What do you want?" Nathan said leading me to a round booth.

"Uhm. Chocolate with chocolate chips in it" I said.

"Ok. I'll be fast, don't miss me" He said smirking. I rolled my eyes and laughed.

"I'll try" I said sarcastically. He laughed and went to order our ice cream. This is fun, im glad I don't have to guide a annoying girl like I thought.

"Back" He said handing me my ice cream.

"Thanks" I replied.

"This is good" Nathan said after trying his ice cream.

"I told you" I said pushing back my long brown hair before it got into my ice cream.

"Yea, I shouldn't doubt you" He said smiling.

We finished out ice cream after talking and joking about our lives and started to leave.

"Want me to walk you home?" Nathan said looking around at the empty streets.

"No its ok" I said. I don't want to look like a baby, I know how to walk home.

"No, its empty I'll walk you." He said as he looked again at the creepy empty roads. Ok fine it was a little scary but my house is right around the corner.

"Fine. Lets go"I started to cross the street looking back at him as I replied.

"ALISON!" He yelled before he grabbed me back. I screamed as I realized a car just sped by me.

"Oh my god!" I said hugging Nathan.

"Dude, you could've been killed! Im definitely walking you home" he said pulling me across the street with him.

"Thanks" I said as we walked down the block.

"No problem." Nathan said smiling. We reached my house and I started to say goodbye.

"Bye Nathan. See you tomorrow." I said turning to him.

"Bye Ali. Yea meet you in the cafeteria?" He said.

"Yep" I answered. I entered my home after waving to Nathan.

I grabbed a cookie and looked around. Guess im home alone.

I spent the rest of the day watching Netflix on my mac book air computer and eating candy. At least I had fun with Nathan today.
