"Where the hell where you?!" My mom yelled at me as I climbed through the window. I flinched and turned around.
"Sorry mom. Im just going to tell you the truth" I sighed. "I skipped school today. I was feeling really sad and I didn't want to bother you."
My mom sighed and walked up to me. She looked at me with a serious face and hugged me.
"You scared me to death Alison." She said.
"I know. Im sorry." I said. " I'll go to my room and call Kayla for the work I missed. I swear I'll make it up."
My mom hugged me again and sent me to my room. After called Kayla I started the work I missed. The day with Nathan was worth it.
"Sweetie?" My mom knocked on my closed door.
"Yes mom?" I said. I got up to open the door.
"I made this for dinner. You must be starving, eat this while you work." My mom set down a plate crowded with mashed potatoes, steak, green beans, asparagus, and tomatoes.
"...Thanks mom. I am hungry, I'll eat it now. But I need to work...so you should leave me working." I subtly hinted for her to leave.
"Oh right. Eat all of it ok? Love you. Leave the dish there when your done. I'll clean it up." My mom said as I led her out of my room.
"My gosh." I mumbled to my self, sitting down at my table and picking up the plate. My mom is overprotective because she realized what losing me was like today. Now shes babying me again! Great, it's gonna be like this for days. After eating most of the food on the plate and working on my work, I glanced at my phone.
"Hm, one new message. I wonder who..." I said, picking my phone up. I smiled to myself when I saw the message was from Nathan.
'Hey. Call me.' Nathan sent. I tapped the call icon and put the phone next to my ear.
"Hey Ali." Nathan said.
"Hey Nathan." I mimicked. I heard a low chuckled at the other end and smiled slightly.
"So how much trouble are you in?" He asked.
"Not much actually. I didn't mention you though so my mom isn't mad at you. She just got overprotective, I probably won't be able to hang out this week though." I answered. "How about you?."
"Well, my dad was at work all day, and he's in his office probably sleeping our working too much to reprimand me. My mom...was reallyy mad. She started yelling at me and then she broke out crying. She's been through a lot." He answered.
"Oh." I said, thinking. "Did you finish the work you missed?"
"Started it. But I have a few things left." He said. He laid down-I assume from his voice sounding a bit different and the shuffling noise in the background- and started a short silence.
"You probably have stuff left to do. Right?" He asked, breaking the silence.
"Yep. You do too! You better go finish it." I said, lightly ordering him around.
"Fine 'mom'." He joked. I laughed before answering.
"Bye Nathan. See you tomorrow at school." I said smiling to myself.
"Bye, love you." He said, stopping short at 'love you'. There was a long pause before he mumbled bye into the phone and hung up.
I chuckled to my self. Placing my phone on my bed I finished my work with a huge smile across my face.
When I finished I decided to bring the plate downstairs. I found my mom sleeping on the couch with Dave next to her. They were both deep into sleep so I quietly set the plate down and hurried to sleep. My mom recently told me that Dave was my biological father, he was actually alive and back!
