Today a strange woman knocked on my door.At first, I was utterly confused as to who she was and how she got to omen in the first place. From what I understood, her name is Mira, and she stumbled upon omen pretty much by accident. I welcomed her In, and she began telling me a story after I gave her a place to sit comfortably on a couch:

"Diamond. The jewel that is considered the most precious, the symbol of love, beauty and resilience. Invincible and pure, like the tears of an infant to take it's first breath upon coming to life. Reflecting every colour of the rainbow, yet remaining unmarred. Perfect. Strong. Only for those we consider irreplaceable."

I do not know what she is talking about. Is she okay?

"The less you have of something the more precious it seems. But diamonds are like dust, broken and dull, devoid of all the magical power they have once possessed. The rainbow beach is littered in shards of broken hopes and dreams and wilted bouquets someone threw out. Empty promises."

(Rainbow beach?? What?? Is she explaining about where she came from? Omen is only cliffs there are no beaches!!)

"This land is filled with torn bridal dresses, and a cemetery for all who have been counting on such a fickle emotion to save them. They lost their value, from the golden rings to tiaras, all of this beauty became a nonhazardous dump with intoxicating fumes. You cannot step into this beach anymore...you'll simply suffocate."

Eh, I sure know how it feels to suffocate in the name of love. Perhaps she Isn't so weird after all.

"Sometimes I stand on my balcony and observe the view below, and the people who became sick with the fumes. They seemed...happy. I could see it in their eyes, how they would caress each other's faces, and laugh together. I always wondered...why would they choose to remain in poverty just to come to the beach together?

Those people are considered addicts in my city. Criminals, but not of the dangerous kind. For them, it is difficult to find a job since their minds are so muddled with such basic instincts. Fortunately, our technology has advanced far beyond that. We now have formulated a vaccine against it...It became so easy. I still don't understand how some of them choose to stay in the debris of the past. Perhaps living a dream seems easier to them, no matter how painful it may be. "

She looked at me during the last sentence, her frozen face contorting in confusion.

"You are one of the infected"

Her voice is the most expressionless thing I have ever heard. Like paper.

"I never left, I have never been to your city" I reply, stroking Roger, who decided to make an appearance once again. " I do not know what you mean"

She stares at me, confused. Her eyes two  mirrors in which I see my reflection. No pupil or iris, just silver.

"I can sense it. The red sisters have visited you. Their mark is deep. You're burning with a fever, though I can feel something being at work here."

"The red sisters? What??"

"Perhaps not in person, but perhaps through a carrier."

I shake my head, confused.

Mira sighs and takes something out of the pocket of her dress.  She fiddles, and it elongates into a lavender coloured  looking...thing. It appears to be a giant bug or something similar to that. It has huge eyes, and somewhat resembles a moth, and strangely enough Mira herself.

Mira says something to the creature, and it lowers itself allowing us to safely climb onto its back.  Roger tried to climb up as well, but his paws do not allow him to do so. Mira smiles, and with a wave of hand lifts him up and places him into what looks to be a giant bubble. The dog barks happily and looks at me, as if waiting for me to climb on.

I never really thought about leaving Omen. To me, it is a comfortable home and I never felt the need to evacuate. However, judging by the glares I was getting from her it was not a time to argue.

So I do climb on, and as soon as I sit down the air is filled with glittering purple dust, and the creature begins it's journey.

We fly straight through the balcony doors, above the donut of Omen and the cascading waterfalls.  For a good while, everything around is is simply white, then It became blindingly shining. Through the clouds that began to part  I could see into the landscape below. It is a breathtakingly beautiful city- the land beneath us was filled with white towers made of organic shapes, with crystal trees blooming in every possible corner. In the far left corner I could see a majestic beach, perhaps the one Mira mentioned previously.

We slowly manoeuvre around the towers, until we land on one of the many clearings. I observe the people around us. They look less so like people but rather statues, beautiful, perfect and emotionless.

"Where are we headed?" I ask, still stunned from the city. "And where are we?"

"Library" She answered shortly, "We're in Luces, also keep your dog leashed, not many people like pets here"

Before I am able to explain that I don't have a leash, Mira reaches into a purse I didn't notice before and pulls it out.

Confused, I accept it and attach it to Roger's collar, and follow Mira through the veiny Streets of Luces. Soon enough she stops at a grand entrance, and walks in without a word.

Inside is a pretty average looking library, with high shelves and a lot of places to read. The space is roomy and airy, with the many levels inside providing seating with natural light. Mira shoves past a few people and goes to a bookshelf on the far right, pulling out a dark red book almost instantly.

"There," she said "This is will probably help you out"
