miss you already

It's been a few days since you've been home. At first, you were pretty sad that you don't get to see your boyfriend, but he was right about not giving you a chance to miss him. He's been messaging you all the time, not like Oikawa (who was still bugging you), Kuroo was giving you your space to focus on schoolwork and volleyball. You both were counting down the days till he could come and see you. There was a little bit of awkwardness between you two since you had both said your 'I love you's, though you haven't said it since.

Ding.

You were hoping it was your favourite captain but to your dismay it was Oikawa.

Oikawa Tooru: y/n channnnn~

y/n: Hello

Oikawa Tooru: I'm taking you out for custard buns tomorrow

y/n: Tomorrow? Like after school?

Oikawa Tooru: yes!

y/n: okay, I have something to tell you tomorrow too. Also, don't go calling this a date—it isn't

y/n: it's just two friends hanging out :)

Oikawa Tooru: we're friends? :o

y/n: I mean, I wouldn't mind being friends

y/n: Do you not want to be friends?

Oikawa Tooru: Well I like you so I want to be more than that

Oikawa Tooru: I'll have to think about f r i e n d s

y/n: Uhm, well you do that. I'm going to go, I've got an important phone call to make haha

Oikawa Tooru: Okayyy ttyl y/n!

You immediately dial Kuroo's number. 'Hey beautiful, how are you?' you hear your boyfriend's calming voice say through the phone. 'Hey Tetsurou, I'm doing okay. How about you?' you ask, still a little nervous. 'I'm doing good, now that I can hear your voice that is.' That sent your heart racing. You hear him giggle. 'What's so funny?' you ask. 'I just know you're red in the face right now,' he chuckled throughout the phone. You laugh along with him, feeling more comfortable now, completely forgetting about your conversation with Oikawa.

You two talk about nonsense for a while when you remembered Oikawa's message. 'By the way, remember how Oikawa won't leave me alone? Well, tomorrow he said he's taking me for custard buns. I've told him this isn't a date and he'll have to accept that we either be friends or stop talking altogether.' Kuroo hums in approval. 'I hope he listens to you,' he says, 'Though I can't help but be a little jealous.' Huh. 'What? Why? You're my boyfriend,' you ask. 'He gets to see you and I don't,' he whines. 'We'll see each other soon babe-' you immediately stop when you realise what you've done. Silence. '...Did you just call me babe?' he asks after what feels like minutes. 'Maybe...' you reply. 'Oookay, time I got some rest, I've got school tomorrow,' you say trying to end the call as to not embarrass yourself further, 'goodnight Tetsurou.'

'No.'

'What?'

'No, that's not my name anymore,'

Oh my God.

You sigh. 'Goodnight babe,'

'Goodnight chibi chan,' he replies.

Before you put the phone down you hear a faint 'I love you.' You stop in your tracks. 'I love you too, and I miss you already...' you whisper hoping he doesn't hear, but still wanting him to know. You put the phone down without finding out if he heard you or not. You don't receive any messages other than Kuroo's goodnight-message so you assume he hasn't heard you. You lay back in bed and drift off to sleep, your mind full of his voice. I miss him so much.
