"I'm breaking up with you," Zeus said to Yara na parang wala lang sa kaniya ang pakikipaghiwalay. Parang isang bagay lang ito na hindi makakasakit para sa kasintahan.
"Y-you what?" hindi makapaniwalang tanong ng dalaga sa binata matapos marinig sa bibig ang salitang ayaw niyang marinig. Hindi niya alam kung ano ang rason nito at gusto niyang isipin na nagbibiro lang ang kasintahan.
Yara and Zeus are in a two-year relationship. They're both famous since Yara is a queen bee and Zeus is one of the heartthrobs in their campus. Kahit hindi siya sumasali sa events o kahit ano pang extra-curricular activities sa campus ay nagsusumigaw pa rin ang attention sa katawan niya. Iyong tipong kapag napadaan siya sa babae ay napapalingon na ito sa kaniya. Sa katawan pa lang ay nagsusumigaw na ito na kailangan siyang pansinin kahit wala pa siyang ginagawa.
Mas lalo pa siyang nakilala nang maging kasintahan niya ang dalaga. Dahil queen bee ito at heartthrob kuno siya (sabi ng mga estudyante) ay lagi silang nasa headlines ng campus newspaper. Kung anu-ano na ang ginagawa ng eskwelahan para pagkakitaan sila.
Halos araw-araw, minu-minuto ay sinusundan siya ng school reporter. Kulang na lang pati sa bahay ay nandoon ang mga ito para sa alamin ang ginagawa niya. Naiirita na siya sa presensya ng mga ito pero wala siyang magawa kundi intindihin dahil alam niya kung gaano kasikat ang girlfriend. Pero habang tumatagal ay mas lalong lumalala ang ginagawa ng eskwelahan sa kanila.
And that makes him sick. He hates attention, he hates popularity, he hates spotlight. Hindi naman niya intensyon na mapansin siya at mas lalong ayaw niyang may pumapansin sa kaniya. Pero bakit pinapansin pa rin siya at sinasama sa balita tungkol sa kasintahan? He only wants Yara to be his girl. Ang babae lang ang gusto niya at hindi ang popularity nito. Pero mukhang mahirap na nga itong ipagsawalang bahala dahil hindi na ito maaalis sa Sistema ng dalaga.
Noong una ay ayos lang sa kaniya. Pero noong tumagal na pati personal na buhay niya ay nadadamay na, to the point na pati silang magkakaibigan ay sinusundan na ng school reporter, ay naiinis na siya. Tiniis niya ang lahat dahil mahal niya ang dalaga. For more than two years ay hinayaan niyang pagpiyestahan siya ng eskwelahan na kulang na lang pati pag-ihi, pag-utot, at pagtae niya sa campus ay naka-report.
"I said, I. WANT. A. BREAK. UP. Let's split up," pagdidiin niya sa bawat salita upang maintindihan siya nito.
"Why? Did I make something wrong, baby?" Hinawakan ng dalaga ang mukha ng kasintahan pero nag-iwas lang ito. Bagay na mas lalong nagpasakit sa puso ng dalaga."Nah, nothing."
"Then why? What's the reason? Please, baby, tell me what's wrong?"
"Do I need to emphasize my reason?"
"Yes, I need to know, Zeus. Wala naman akong natatandaan na ginawa sa 'yo para makipaghiwalay ka sa akin."
"You already know, Yara. So, stop pretending you didn't know."
"See, baby, is it because of Avel? I told you, hindi totoo ang relationship namin noon. It's for the headlines since he was an MVP. Ikaw ang first boyfriend ko, ang first kiss ko. Sinasama lang nila si Avel sa issue natin ngayon para may mapag-usapan na naman ang school."
"I don't care about Avel. I want to break up with you. Simple as that."
"But, Zeus, I love you. I do, I really love you, baby." Tinanggal niya ang kamay ni Yara sa mukha niya para iwasan ito. "I thought we have the same feeling, Yara. But, I realized that what I feel is just an infatuation."
"What?"
"I don't love you. I'm not capable of loving someone."
"Did you already forget about our happiest moments, Zeus? Everything we did? And our matching tattoo during my eighteenth birthday? We made it as a sign of our love."
"I'm planning to remove mine."
"Zeus."
"Let's end this and go back to Avel."
"No, no, please, I need you. Do you want me to prove it to you? Fine, I am willing to give you my virginity if that's what you want."
Lihim siyang napakuyom. Ang presensya pa lang nito ay sapat na para makapagpabaliw sa pagnanasa niya at ngayon ay inaalok pa nito ang sarili sa kaniya. Hindi siya kailangan magpadala sa init ng katawan dahil kapag nagkataon ay parehong masisira ang pag-aaral nila.
"I don't need you. I am saying this to you not to hurt you but to be honest with you." Nagulat siya nang yakapin siya nito pero pilit niya itong inaalis.
"Zeus, please, don't do this to me. I really need you badly now."
"Goodbye, Yara." At iniwan niya ang dalaga.
"Zeus! Zeus!" Pero hindi na siya nakinig. "Kailangan kita ngayon, Zeus. I need someone right now. Please comeback," humahagulgol niyang sabi habang tinitingnan palayo ang dating kasintahan.
