Kings and Queens (Poem)

51 3 5

Kings and Queens line the halls,

white cold marble faces.

Velvet carved from solid stone,

done up with golden laces.

Artfully guilded fabric folds

painted scarlet, onyx, blue,

tapered crowns with glass-cut jewels

and dainty polished shoes.

Noses straight or hooked and proud,

eyes turned as though to leave;

lips slightly parted over ivory teeth,

you'd almost swear they breathed.
