We Are the Writers (Poem)

We are the writers

long we will live

for we are immortal,

life we do give.

Our pencils are wands

or often times swords

and the capping of our pens is a force

that shakes the earth.

We are the writers,

long may we reign,

for we live in each breath,

step

and sigh,

in each burst of pain.

We are are writers, long may we live,

masters of ink,

rulers of plot,

magicians,

weavers,

painters

and spinners of stories.

From our loom 'fore the fire

we sing of our tales,

we cry for our characters,

their fates we bewhale.

Comedy and Tragedy,

both are our realms--

to move you to tears,

from laughter or pain.

We are the writers,

life we do give;

We are immortal,

many lives we do live.
