Well I've been bleeding for ages

blood soaking the tips of my fingers, brighter than ink.

I've been scratching away the coating of my soul

revealing a substance thicker than blood and clearer than water.

I've been mapping the lines of my skin

looking for plots in freckles and wrinkles.

I've been learning to look without my eyes

what I see is a world brighter than earth.

I've been mining questions from the hard rock of my mind

discarding answers that mean less than nothing.

I've been breathing in air and blowing out words

that taste like copper, blood, red, lies.

Brighter than earth with less meaning than nothing

truer than truth and clearer than water.
