Wings (Poem)

I taught myself to fly

on wings of ink and dreams

on wings of silk stitched on bone

metal welded on skin.

~

I taught myself to fly

with wings of melting wax

with wings of charred, smoking feathers

words bled into my fingers.

~

I taught myself to fly

on wings of rusted stone

on wings of cracking graphite

the songs I never sang.
