The Ivory Ship (Poem)

She sailed a ship of hollowed bones

whose hull was sealed with amber.

Her hair was darker than midnight's breath

and her eyes were wide and green.

She wore a dress of canvas sail

and her hands were bound in leather,

and though mortal men need time to rest

she never left the wheel.

Sail, sail, the waves all cried,

slapping the ship with tears,

and though mortal men need time to rest she never left the wheel.
