After a long sigh, you looked at the glass filled with amber liquid in front of you. It had been a long few months, to say the least.
Your phone buzzed and you pulled it out of your pocket, heart pounding with some sort of expectation, but slowed immediately once you saw who had sent it.
Jack Garett: Looking forward to hearing back about your decision
You ignored it for now. Your decision was quite clear. You were sitting in an airport waiting for your flight to get in from Germany to take you back home to Addis.
It seemed your sorrow had attracted the attention of an older woman, probably more so around the age of your mother if not a bit older. She came to join you up at the bar counter and motioned for the bartender to refill her glass of wine. The airport back home was definitely different from this one, but you were grateful for its amenities, you could use them right now, but another part of you just wanted to be back.
"Something seems to have gotten you down honey," the woman said and you turned to her, your lips pulling into a half-smile, but you didn't really mean it.
"A lot of things," you responded.
"A lot of things," she hummed and looked around for a moment while you stared back down at your glass. "When's your flight sweetheart?"
You lifted your watch to check the time, thankful that the new digital one you had managed to purchase switched automatically with the time zones along with your phone.
"About five hours,"
"Then we have plenty of time," she said, arms folded in front of her, "You look like you could use someone to talk to,"
And for once in this hell that had been five months, you thought someone had come up with a good idea.
"Where do you want me to start?" you asked. "Because it's a little complicated,"
"Boy complicated?" she raised a brow and sipped her glass of red.
"Everything complicated,"
"Then start at the beginning," she instructed. "My flight doesn't leave for six hours so I got even more time than you,"
You chuckled a little at that and swirled your drink in your cup.
"Well, if I had to start at the beginning, that would probably have to be mid-April..."

"Sir, I'm telling you these two crimes are connected," you pressed, looking up at your boss and pointing to the two files.
"Beka, Enough," the Chief Inspector waved his hand dismissively at you. Something you were used to at this point, being a woman in law enforcement, but this time it really pissed you off. "There's no evidence to connect the two, how can you determine if a crime is connected when there is no evidence,"
