"Thanks for giving me a ride home," you sighed, pulling out your keys to unlock the door. "I really thought she was gonna last,"

"Did you end up taking your car to the mechanic Morgan recommended?" Hotch asked you and you shook your head.

"It was a bit out of my price range, but I guess the extra stretch may have been worth it," you huffed and when you opened the door were met with the happy wagging tail of your dog. "Hey Baby," you grinned, but she zoomed right past you into the hallway and jumped up onto Hotch. "You're such a traitor," you rolled your eyes and Hotch laughed a little, bending down to give your little rascal some attention.

"She just knows I carry treats on me specifically for her," he said, pulling out a small bag and getting her to do a small trick before offering her a reward.

"You spoil her," you tapped your thigh and she came speeding back into the house to go sit on her bed. "Hey, do you wanna come in for a drink or something?" you asked. "I know Jack's at a sleepover tonight. Might be nice to get away for a bit," you noted.

"Sure," he agreed and stepped past the threshold and into your apartment.

"Alright, I have juice, pop, tea, beer, wine, and coffee if you wish to screw up your sleep schedule even more than it already is," you said while looking through your cupboards and fridge.

"I'll have tea, thanks," he chuckled while you placed the different boxes of tea bags in front of him so he could pick what he wanted while you boiled the water.

While you were at work Hotch took his time to observe his surroundings. He had been to your apartment quite a few times, but almost always it was dark because he had driven you back after a night out on the town. He wasn't really sure how he ended up being your designated driver, but he didn't mind that much.

Your sofas had throw pillows arranged nicely in a certain colour scheme that seemed to match most of your other decorations. It was homey and reminded him a little of his grandparents cottage in the sense that he felt welcome.

On the wall, hanging from a stand was a large acoustic guitar that looked like it hadn't been touched in a while, and next to it were photos of what looked like you with another man holding said guitar.

"Do you play?" Hotch found himself asking, eyes motioning to the instrument.

"No, I wish," you shook your head, standing on the other end of the counter. "It belonged to my dad and he wanted me to have it after he passed away, figured maybe it was a good way to get me to finally learn it,"

"So that's him in the pictures?" Hotch asked.

"Yeah, I grew up in a family of musicians, but was not blessed with the capacity to play an instrument," you nodded. "Besides these pipes," you pointed to your throat with a small laugh. "I did choir from when I was three all the way until after college,"

"Wow," Hotch was surprised, he hadn't known that about you before. "But you know um, if you want to learn that's always a good place to start. You can look up chord charts on the internet and I mean if you learn G, E minor, C, and D you're practically set for some of the most popular songs,"
